Before a bowl game, Do they get to Travel with the team to the bowl game and get to play. Once you have announced your decision technically your no longer part of the team. I’m just curious with the transfer portal since is a new thing. The scholarship isn’t guaranteed once you enter and if you pull the request the coach may or may not honor it is what I have read. Im curious if Cooper and Beresford attend but I doubt they play.

It may be up to the school on this one. Thought that’s what I read regarding Montana State QB who entered the portal before the FCS playoffs started. Maybe the rules are different for 1AA though.

Regarding MSU, their starter for the season leaves after Griz game. Then the freshman out of Butte High gets them to the FCS championship game against the Bison. It’s a great story.

It will be interesting to see if any Cougs enter the portal after the Sun Bowl.

They gotta change something with the early signing day or something. Kids transferring before bowl games and even playoffs?

If the coaches can do it so can the kids.

Rather than think of ways to control kids and make them stay in a program for the school’s benefit, why not think of ways that make kids WANT to stay???

GREAT take.

Yes, let's figure out a way to create playing time for undeserving kids.

To clarify, I didn't say I wanted transfers to be disallowed. I said I wish the early signing date was changed so that kids didn't have to transfer before their season was over.

Playing devil’s advocate, schools can negotiate buy outs in coaches contracts. How do you do that with a kid on scholarship?

Agree. The early signing date can make kids feel pushed into an urgent situation where they have to leave earlier then they might want.

Kids have 1 year renewable deals. Schools have the ability to move on and not offer another year. Schools can expel a kid as well ending the signed agreement. No buyout needed.

Twittersphere rumor.
I haven’t seen anything besides discussion about Ward transfer when he initially went into the transfer portal - related to what would happen with DeLaura. I heard from a friend near to the program supposedly Cristobal or some entity tried to have discussion with DeLaura about transferring during the season. But no inclination to leave on his end.

Sorry chug, I forgot the guys Twitter name. Maybe someone can help out with it.

Wait, what??? They tried to talk to him during the season about transferring? That can’t be legal. Although it it’s Oregon so not surprising. To$h is their new DC.

I agree but something has to change, I feel for some programs like Nevada and Wyoming. What if Delaura went to USC along with all our promising WRs. How would all of us feel? Bigger programs like Bama, Ohio State and USC would be unstoppable cherry picking players. We’re already at a disadvantage with schools like Oregon having cash and facilities. NIL deals are the new deal and don’t have the funds other schools offer.

If someone shows up, someone has to leave.

If Im a coach at Wyoming and some Power 5 school takes my QB… I am on the phone with that programs HC 2 seconds after he verbals…. “hey a$$hole, you owe me. I need a qb and a (whatever else position). who are you sending me???”

This is musical chairs. Not everyone is going to get a seat. The Power 5 scholarships just got more competitive to get. If you can evaluate talent and build relationships you will always have good players.

If a kid wants to leave WSU, fine. It’s his choice. It’s time to stop looking at what WSU doesn’t have and start looking at what WSU does have.
