Second year recruiting? He was hired five months ago. Second cycle, I'll give you that. But you know just as well as anybody that college basketball recruiting is always two cycles ahead. So he's had five months to catch up on the 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes that 9 of 12 coaching staffs in the Pac-12 have had at least two full years recruiting.Originally posted by 7ICoug:
Loosing westside kids can't be a good sign. This is his second year of recruiting and so far he isn't getting it done.
I believe you are making too much of the ASU nailed a player in Kent's backyard. If this happens with every recruit for the next five years, then yes, it is not good. But, one recruit is such a small small sample size to be useless. We really have no idea why he chose ASU and the reason probably has nothing to do with Kent or WSU.Originally posted by 7ICoug:

but as did Arizona State. But that goes back to the "what have you done
lately" recruiting narrative that Kent doesn't have at his disposal."
That's the point. This is not a kid either ASU or WSU was on until a week ago. However, Curtis Allen should have known about him for years.
Point is ASU nailed a kid in Ernie Kents backyard and this is not a good sign.
Besides as you well know, BK, nearly all Basketball recruiting is done by the Assistant's. HC only close, we didn't even notch a visit.
You just said you will gladly stand up for Ernie Kent. Then how about supporting the coaches he hired, including Curtis Allen?Originally posted by ElComanche:
Unlike other folks here,i was not happy when Curtis Allen was retained. I just did not understand why people were so high on him. I was hoping that Kent would hire a competent recruiter . Perhaps,if there are any other dealings like this, then Kent may make a needed change in my opinion.
