Ernie Kent s contract

Some people are having a fit, but continuity with Kent seems to be paying off in recruiting. Age is just a number, and Ernie appears to have more energy than many guys 10 years younger.

Still think the rollover year should be earned by results on the floor, not projections of improved recruiting. Another four years without the rollover should be enough to suggest continuity without making it more difficult should the university decide to part with the coach. If Kent starts winning more games and puts the program in position for post season consideration, that's when you can offer the reward. Just my opinion.

I tend to agree we need to demonstrate continuity if we truly want to build this program.

What I question: are we better off getting with a younger coach that has shown he can recruit as well.

Moos has shown he can be stubborn sometimes. Basketball is NOT living up to its profit potential at the gate. If Kent starts winning, things will change.

Ernie is 14-40 through three years, and in two of those three years the Pac-12 was the worst major conference in the country. He should not have been rolled over, but rather have to to earn his extension in Year 4.

I'm fine with coach Kent as our basketball coach but the product on the court has been lacking. IMO this is due to absolutely terrible recruiting adding a four star recruit is awesome but that doesn't change the fact that Kent has failed to bring high level recruits to campus thus far. I'm hopping he has restablished his recruiting connections plus added and will still add more recruiting power on to his staff and this will be a sign of things to come.

I believe that last years and the recruits this year may turn the program around. it is funny to read the comments from the t witty nerdish monitors at the other board. They act like they know basketball. I think that they are looking and wondering about that hole in the ground.

Yes, but you have brought quite a bit of information from that board to this board. For a website that draws a lot of criticism and attention from you, you seem to spend a lot of time over there.

I check it out. I cannot post there, The good thing about the site,is is that they do write a lot of articles and some of them have merit. Some sites have been known to use free articles and copy them in their paid section. They do act as a clearinghouse of information.. I believe in freedom of speech and that is not allowed there. They keep tight control of posts . if one reads their guidelines, i am well in step with them. What they cannot stand is people disagreeing with their opinions or calling out favored posters for differing opinions. So yes i visit there, you are correct and thanks for giving me another chance to slam them appropriately.

I do post on the other board. My beef is that most of the posters don't even really enjoy watching college hoops for the same of enjoying the individual talents and skills of the players. All they care about is making runs at post season. If that is all I cared about I would have stopped following thevCougs 40 years ago.

I am certainly more patient with coaches than most. The simple reason is that from experience I know that the next coach is more likely to be a Graham, Eastman, Stevens, or Bob Greenwood than a Dick or Tony Bennett

Just as an addendum we have more talent next year that intrigues me than at any time for several years.

I like the potential of the team with all the new players. Of course,"potential" does not always translate into real talent and results.

Agreed. Also I am the first to admit that I am often over optimistic. However, it seems to me that a lot more guys on this team are in the Lacy caliber just using the eye test. For example, Flynn is not the athlete Lacy was , but he is as good a shooter, and more important he is a gamer like Lacy.

We have a lot of new player that we will see for the first Time that is always intriguing. Hopefully some will really blossom. I I'm interested in see eggars with all his athleticism.

Plus I look forward to watching the progress of Franks, Daniels, Pollard and Flynn
