ESPN Interview with Schulz

Sounds like Schulz and Chun are standing around with their pants down and their dicks in their hand.
I don't think we had, or have, many options unfortunately. The Big-12 was not interested in us. It was just the "4 corners." I'm frustrated as well, but what options were on the table for us to have a plan B other than what we have now?

Feels like if Cal and Stanford get shot down, or turn down the ACC, it's Pac-12 rebuild with trying to keep as much cash in the bank as possible to help finance things.

Again, waiting around and letting things happen to them.

Idgaf if it means going independent, joining the MWC, making Pac West - take charge and at least have some say in the future of your school. Make a two school alliance with OSU who's fate seems to be tied to ours, but have a solo plan as well.

"Well, depending on what Stanford and Kal do..." f that. That time has passed, and if they get left holding the bag then f them.

Hey, they called in a consultant.

I’ve always found that‘s the best way to avoid doing something.

Where's that fighting attitude? Absolutely pathetic. The more I hear from Schulz and Chum the angrier I get. Everyone knows that we have been in, and are in, a tough spot. This situation may have been inevitable, everyone knows that, but you at least go out swinging, trying to get that one shot in on the bully's nose. You just don't cower in the corner, letting the bully kick the shit out of you. Utterly uninspiring leadership.

Compare that to John Chaplin. Do you know why he is one of the largest donors all time at WSU as a track coach. He was told that due to budget cuts/Title IX his scholarships and budget were going to be reduced by 30%, a program death knell. How did he respond? Just accept the fact he was going to get boat raced from then on out? No, he got the admin to agree that he could go out and fund the scholarships and part of his budget, and the women's budget by proxy, himself. He got credit as a tax write off donation to athletics, hence his massive "donation" history.

You just don't give up without trying. Hiring a consultant, late, ain't trying.

Also, what they are saying publicly and what they are doing is not known.

I read the "consultant comment" as they aren't listening to George any longer. They need someone to help them navigate (they have jobs) and there is a whole lot of work to do.

We will land on our feet....just not as quickly as the other schools.

Schulz should be Jeremy Irons' character in Margin Call right now, not returning emails and doing public appearances or whatever usual daily tasks he attends to. There are so many layers of admin bloat that I'm sure the university can sustain while he puts all of his attention into this matter. Same for Chun.

All that being said, I have no idea what he/ they are actually doing. He might be Jeremy Irons' character, but given how this whole thing has played out, I'm kinda doubting it.

(If you haven't seen Margin Call about the 2008 housing bubble collapse I highly recommend it. The performances are great, even if Kevin Spacey is just playing Kevin Spacey - he's great at it.)

The Big Short is right there too. Same story, slightly different perspective.
