Let's say Pendergast has decided that WSU isn't the right fit for him. How do you go about identifying the next best candidate?

I'd wager Leach, Salave'a, Wilson, Bethea, and Reinert have been watching a lot of video on darkhorse candidates to evaluate their ability to scheme, recognize and adjust to various offensive schemes given different personnel.

What makes a good DC? What are you looking for on tape?

Hope those guys got to spend some time with their family during the holidays, I'm sure they are working harder evaluating than anyone right now and that is why it has been so quiet.

#1 Innovative in their schemes.
#2 Ability to maximize potential.. in our case making a silk purse out of a sows ear.
#3 In-game adjustments.

This time around, CML has had time to use the personal connections instead of blind dating or speed dating to find a DC. I think that will prove to be the deciding factor in the selection to be announced this month.

But if I was looking for just a couple of things from a DC, they would be:

1.) Overall D strategy. That is the primary job of the DC.
2.) Track record of having players developed under his tutelage. You need good raw material to start with, but then you really do have to coach them. The DC will not personally do all of that; but if he can't do it himself, then his results with his staff will be weak. Hard to demand that your staff do something that you never could do yourself.
3.) Ability to monitor the staff and hold them accountable.

The rest is stuff that can be apportioned between the DC and the D staff. But those 3 things have to come from the DC himself.

Gotta say, like your number 3. Considering last year, this is a big consideration for me... Cuz I'm hiring the dude. ;-)
