was looking at Oregon's offer. Leach is a smart guy and has several candidates on speed dial.

Everything I have read says
the extension WAS signed, at least by Joe, but hadn't cleared whatever administrative channels necessary for it to be in effect yet.

Leach probably knew there was still a chance of Joe leaving, as it seemed to be pretty common knowledge that Salave'a and Oregon were having further contact. But I think it also probably caught most by at least a little bit of surprise? Someone also quoted another assistant coach (that the poster had supposedly talked to, the night Joe's departure was made known) saying just that - big shock, terrible timing, etc.

Given the nature of college football coaching, I'm sure Leach always has some names in mind, as far as possible future assistant coaches. WSU football no doubt had a presence at the annual college football coaches meeting, just this past few days, and was busy talking to candidates there, too.

I would not be surprised if the other assistant coaches did not know that Joe had left the team.People want to believe what they want to believe .So far no offivial word from Moos, leach or the rest of the coaching staff

Go easy on Edith. She was pretty miserable in her silence during the 8-game winning streak. Only her stained photos of Chris Ball helped her through it all.
Hey, have some compassion. Those were tough weeks for our resident Eeyore.:D

You enjoyed this too much Ed.
Enjoyed what? That he let? Let me get this straight. I write that Leach probably knew Joe leaving was a distinct possibility, that he probably has a plan for it and I like it?

I don't mind Joe leaving. If he sucked we would have zero problem firing him. While coaches enjoy the universities they play for, they love their family, their job, and the ability to provide for their families. Was Joe S retained by Rich Rod or did his alma mater reassign him? I don't expect our coaches to be loyal, so I have no emotional feeling one way or the other.

Too funny. Did I even say losing Joe was a bad thing? I wondered if we really needed to hire a Samoan to attract Samoan kids. It is like saying we need a coach of color to recruit African American players. As of right now we have one African American coach. I know it used to be the belief by many you had to have diversity on the staff to attract the African American player to Pullman. After seeing Doba's and Wulff's lack of ability to get talented kids I am not sure how true that is.

Ed...just poking at you for fun. Has your wife ever told you that you focus on controversy?

No but your wife has...sorry just poking fun at you.

Didn't realize a coach talking a job somewhere else making more money was all that controversial. Nor saying Leach has accounted for the potential loss and I am sure he had his list a long time ago. Just as Moos has a list several coaches he would hire if Leach ever left. It is good business.
