Five days..

...not according to the yahoo schedule link up above.

It is still March.

Then why are the recruits he has been after are signing with some good programs It will really amuse me if some of the cat callers are surprised by the talent he brought in this year. Time will tell

A team just has to sign a few good players every year. It is not like football. I believe that this years crop of recruits will surprise you .

Kinda like the group this year. 2 or 3 of similar caliber for next season would be nice.

Yes there are some voices of reason about. Hell even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while :)

You're hired send your resume to Kent. I really think fans will be surprised by this year s team I know a broken record .But hell even a broken clock is right twice a day.:(

Is this a new recruit? I wonder how many stars this guy has?

It’s best to look at the coach as an individual more than the conference he comes from. There have been successful coaches come out of the Big Sky, average coaches and flops . Not sure Travis Decuire is the answer but it is time to at least start the thinking process of who could be next. This year will either be the nail in the coffin or hopefully the start of some solid years.

First off travis is a big time first class recruiter especially on the west coast he knows the Washington
area as well as the Pac 12 from his time at cal. Now anybody is free to disagree if he is the best guy
As a replacement but I doubt you can say he is not better then the coach you have now.

DeCuire has come up a lot and there is a pretty big divide on whether he would be a good choice for us. Who knows if he would even want us?

I liked Chun's pick on the women's side and Ethridge was from the Big Sky. Idaho probably beat us a lot of years during the Monson, Davis, Eustachy or whoever the coach was at the time so we aren't in any position to look our collective noses down on the Big Sky (and I don't think that's the case). We simply are a really challenging gig whereas Montana is a big fish in the Big Sky.

If we could move Pullman to a suburb of Seattle or Portland it wpuld pribably be best:)

This year will be the year in which Kent has to make a positive statement on the court. If he has a good year than all of this is all for naught. It is nice to see some action on the board. The start of the basketball season is up on us and we may soon have some answers.

Cant lie. I thought we under achieved last season. One of the few seasons where I thought talent exceeded won lost record. Not sure where the blame goes.

Given the lack of facilities, remote location, third most prestigious program in-state, and stiff competition each year I don't see why any promising coach would want to head to Pullman. Sure you get a bump in pay, but good coaches can patiently wait for a better opportunity to come along next year. Until some of these problems get fixed, the best we can hope for is a good coach in need of an opportunity no one else wants to give.

I actually think Kent is close to the ceiling for what we can get. Ken Bone too. Maybe the game has passed Ernie, but its by far been the most rough stop in his career. Same with Bone.

Women's hoops is a different animal. A Pac-12 education and a good relationship with the coach means more. WSU isnt facing the same challenges in recruiting women then do when recruiting men. I'm really excited to see what Ethridge does with the WBB program.

All great points etown. Always hope to catch lighning in a bottle, but realistically only happens about once in 10-12 years.

I see your point but other than adding facilities to the challenge we have always needed to go after "a coach in need of an opportunity no one else wants to give". Raveling, Stevens, Sampson, Graham (!). That's exactly why we landed Kent and Bone. Neither one was going to get another opportunity in the Pac 12 or maybe even a step down. Not sure who else was lining up to hire Kent other than Moos. We were pretty fortunate OSU wouldn't commit to Tony or we would have been a year late on Dick Bennett.

We obviously can't fix "remote location" and IMO that's always has been and will be the biggest challenge. Fixing facilities isn't coming any time soon although we definitely need it for both programs. I hate to say it but WSU hoops is probably as tough as it gets.

In 17 PAC 10/12 seasons Kent has had a winning conference record 4 times so I’m not sure his record is anything to brag about or shows any kind of coaching genius. Then you stack the limitations we have always faced and it doesn’t seem like a recipe for success. I think his JC guys are better than in the past but this year needs to be good or his seat will be burning hot

I am always happy for another season but I like this roster a lot more than at any time in Kent's tenure. Brand x has a couple posters who have said Kunc could end up a starter this year. I had similar thoughts to Ava in terms of never turning down a 6-8" high school kid that looks like he can shoot it but did not expect him to have a chance to get in the lineup this early. Elleby is raw but good talent and plenty of upside. Both these 2 could help bring a few students back. I think Ali could fill some of what Flynn brought to the table with maybe a little less need for the ball and Wade maybe at least provides a garbage type guy that plays hard when he's on the floor. Chidom plays with an edge and maybe we get Skaggs into a role where he can become more of an instant offense guy off the bench.

I am hoping we have a lot of guys who play with a bit of a chip on their shoulder and a tougher. I think we could actually see good improvement this year. Hopefully Franks leads the way. I think we have some interesting combinations. Not a lot of size but hopefully a lot more options on offense and effort on defense.

I saw on the roster where Franks is listed as 6'9 235? That is probably a misprint but would be nice if true. He has always been listed as being 6'7.

I always thought Franks looked bigger than his listed size, charged it up being so long.
