..until the start of the college basketball season.
You thought the same last year and the year before that. Your act long ago got old. And redundant.A team just has to sign a few good players every year. It is not like football. I believe that this years crop of recruits will surprise you .
Yes there are some voices of reason about. Hell even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while
This program needs to go get TRAVIS DECUIRE quick fast and in a hurry.
DeCuire has come up a lot and there is a pretty big divide on whether he would be a good choice for us. Who knows if he would even want us?
I liked Chun's pick on the women's side and Ethridge was from the Big Sky. Idaho probably beat us a lot of years during the Monson, Davis, Eustachy or whoever the coach was at the time so we aren't in any position to look our collective noses down on the Big Sky (and I don't think that's the case). We simply are a really challenging gig whereas Montana is a big fish in the Big Sky.
I see your point but other than adding facilities to the challenge we have always needed to go after "a coach in need of an opportunity no one else wants to give". Raveling, Stevens, Sampson, Graham (!). That's exactly why we landed Kent and Bone. Neither one was going to get another opportunity in the Pac 12 or maybe even a step down. Not sure who else was lining up to hire Kent other than Moos. We were pretty fortunate OSU wouldn't commit to Tony or we would have been a year late on Dick Bennett.Given the lack of facilities, remote location, third most prestigious program in-state, and stiff competition each year I don't see why any promising coach would want to head to Pullman. Sure you get a bump in pay, but good coaches can patiently wait for a better opportunity to come along next year. Until some of these problems get fixed, the best we can hope for is a good coach in need of an opportunity no one else wants to give.
I actually think Kent is close to the ceiling for what we can get. Ken Bone too. Maybe the game has passed Ernie, but its by far been the most rough stop in his career. Same with Bone.
Women's hoops is a different animal. A Pac-12 education and a good relationship with the coach means more. WSU isnt facing the same challenges in recruiting women then do when recruiting men. I'm really excited to see what Ethridge does with the WBB program.
