For once I’d like to see the remaining powers that be say screw you furd and begin moving forward on their own. They are an so-called elite school that thinks their sh!t doesn’t stink. Screw Them! Join with the Beavs and move forward to save the PAC in some form. Take the necessary schools needed to form the best conference possible. Those of us living here in the west / pac-12 footprint want to see football that is madeup of schools that are in the west. Many of us have no interest in big 10 or sec football. We know the $ won’t be the same, but it is what it is. Make some choices to help yourselves and stop relying on unreliable entities to save you!

All things being equal I’d much rather see some type of merger with Mtn West than the AAC for the reasons you list.

The best possible conference while still maintaining a path to the CFP’s is a must. Without a path, Cougar football becomes even more irrelevant than it is about to be.

The first round of conference consolidation has the Cougs on the outside looking in as to Power 5 conferences. WSU needs to position themselves to be relevant in a G5 conference. The next round of conference consolidation will relegate more power 5 schools to G5. There is only so much money to go around, if the blue bloods want more money, which they will, they will start limiting the number of pieces in the pie. There are now 64-70 teams in power 4 conferences, assuming the pac 12 is done. In 3-4 years the" power 4" will be narrowed down to less than 50 teams.

The real question is whether or not it they can make enough money to satisfy 48 or 64 teams. Four 16 team conferences with 8 team divisions could cover the country pretty effectively and avoid most of the drama that WSU and OSU are facing. But do the "elite" programs want to continue to share the wealth, particularly if that pot of wealth starts to weaken if ESPN can't keep up on viewers?

Those 50 teams need to have someone to beat. If it’s just them playing among themselves, they’ll weaken the 50. They’ll have to keep some weaker teams around - preferably those with money (like Vanderbilt) - to pad their conference schedules.

WSU needs to get control of its business and stop waiting for others to make decisions or dictate to them what will happen.

Awful leadership. Zero vision.

WSU needs a Deon Sanders team meeting for the entire university staff.

Ditto for me. Just f-ing do it and get it over with. If Mtn West wants to dissolve and become the Pac-16, then great. Otherwise, hat in hand to them and beg for admission. F the AAC. I mean South Florida, Memphis, east Carolina, etc? We are gonna travel all the way across the country in Basketball, Baseball and Volleyball? SMU is going to bail to the Big12

As opposed to jaunts to San Diego, Fresno, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs (I was born there) and Wyoming?

The AAC was pretty decent when Cincinnati, Houston and UCF were in the mix. It's a terrible league right now where they scraped up every team willing to come their way. FAU, UAB and UTSA? If we are to the point where we want to play them, we might as well start talking about just moving to the Big Sky. It ain't that big of a difference. Going across the country to play a bunch of scrubs is the sign that the end times have indeed truly come.

Much rather see the Cougs and OSU work with the MWC. There might be a couple teams from the AAC worth talking to but the majority of that conference is so bad that we are just guaranteeing that TV money will no longer be a factor in our athletic department funding.

Fresno St, BSU, UNLV, SDSU, Air Force, CSU. As for the AAC? I'd look long and hard at SFU & Memphis. We can argue other schools that may or may not belong but I think these schools are a good start.

Eh, I think the Mtn West is going to be an all or nothing deal for us and OSU. Why would a few teams bail to join our Pac-2 disaster? Just my opinion. And the thought of being in a league with BSU makes me want to barf, but that is the hand we have been dealt. And SFU and Memphis? 3,000 miles away? No thanks.

Side note, just got my CSU game ticket. Really looking forward to checking them out. Road trip!

Assume academics and all that jazz is out the window and BSU is a fellow conference member. Don't you need THEM to be your rival? Don't we NEED a natural rival?

I just can't see OSU being our rival. We are the same type of school and both of us left standing with our backs against the wall when the teams were picked. We can't (I can't) hate them like the huskies or ducks! We're more like brothers. Boise would be a fun team to beat the shit out of!

That's all I have to say about that

Thinking on a National level, BSU has a lot of football street cred. I get that some Cougs don’t like them but having them in our conference is going to be essential to the perception of our team’s competitiveness.

We'll have to figure out a place to meet up. I'll be there with my wife, daughter and the daughter's boyfriend.

Agreed. Like it or not they have established a reputation as the Gonzaga of the football world. They’ve dominated their conference and have welcomed tough OOC opponents.

They’ll also be a big draw in Pullman.
