quite a lengthy article over at the athletic. Was going to copy and paste for y'all, but its really long.

synopsis: there isn't a whole lot of "coaching" going on. He teaches the basic concept and then informs them when they screw up. His qb meetings often, if not always, devolve into lengthy tangents that no one wanted to be a part of. Like, hours long tangents. Despite all of that, most of them spoke with respect about his football knowledge.

And people wonder why hiring a QB coach would have been a good idea....

Together with the fact of the QB calling it on the field, this seems to confirm that, provided people understand his system, you don't need van Gogh to stick around for the art show. Have one of the museum staff do it and invest your resources elsewhere.

It'll be nice to have a HC with whom the buck actually stops, as well.

that wasn't my take away from the article at all. It's that he's unorthodox and keeps things very simple.
I found that hard to believe also. Leach has a better record of developing qbs than most any coach in the country. Sounds like nonsense.

I guess you skimmed it and ignored the parts you wanted to?

It literally starts with:"Connor Halliday, 2012-14: His first meeting, he had just gotten there and I was expecting him to install the offense. Everybody had their notebooks out ready to go. I think we got there at like 6 o’clock at night and were there until 9:30. He didn’t speak one word about football."

Guess I was just making up the tangent stuff.

I have always maintained that there was never any competition to be the Starting QB. He had his mind made up before practices even started. There is good and bad in doing it that way.

This quote says nothing except he is unorthodox and keeps it simple. I do not trust Connor’s perspective on anything.

Connor Halliday has already blown any credibility he had earlier this year. leachs former qbs always have praised him.
