First off, I hope a few Cougs get a once in a lifetime chance to see the basketball team and football team back to back in Southern Cal. To those paying attention, do the Cougs stand a chance in either game? USC just won the tournie in Hawaii and Fucla just beat Kentucky.

FUCLA beat a Kentucky team that is very young and certainly NOT a juggernaut at this stage of the season. Their game, the little bit I could stomach of it, was a wretched example of the "modern" game--run up and down the court and see how quickly you could jack up a three if you didn't win the race for a dunk. Yuck.

I have always found it interesting when we talk about the " modern" game. It really depends a lot on your age when you make comparisons. The game of the past I compare it to is the era of Murphy, Mount, and Maravich averaging 30+ per game, and teams averaging in the 80s with no shot clock or 3 point line. There is another era where grab and shove defenses kept games in the 50s and you measured your post players by bulk, not height. Nothing wrong with pining for either era, but it is interesting comparung. the different perspectives.
