My daughter had a conversation with SDSU AD and former Coug, John Wicker, this am in Chelan. He said they are in active “talks” to join the Pac and would like to see it happen.

Thanks, Kurt! Appreciate the reporting.

Thanks for the update. Normally these hear say stories need to be taken with a grain of salt, but this shouldn't surprise anyone. It shouldn't disappoint anyone, either, as San Diego is an A-1 travel destination. Given that their new football stadium is in the final stages of construction, I'd much prefer to travel there than I would Compton.

I’d be surprised if George isn’t exploring all angles and scenarios. This would obviously make some sense but there are many balls in the air currently and who knows where they will land?

If Gisele and I were both single, we would be in "active" talks too. For sure. At least that's what I would tell other super models. What's the downside?

SDSU would be filler. As in you have one school or three ready to join, and need another to balance out the divisions.

SDSU has a world class campus and is a world class destination

The Pac could do a lot worse than bringing in SDSU and UNLV. I know the pros and cons of doing this, but selfishly, it would be pretty damn cool.

I’m good with SD but no Boise state please
Disagree. Boise is a great city, one of the fastest growing metro areas in the west, and passionate fan base with a national brand. I get the BSJC thing but C’Mon, the LA schools just bailed we need some decent markets to join. Boise would be an awesome add and fun place to travel to every other year.

It may be a great city but why lower the standard if that’s the case why not join the mountain west. Keep with what we have and align with the ACC. It’s about dollars right so why take less,Its a business decision.

I agree with you the ACC is a better option I was just responding to BSU vs SDSU. If the ACC partnership doesn’t become an option and you’re looking at other schools in the West to complete a conference, I’d love Boise State for the reasons mentioned. I get that it’s not up to the educational standards of the PAC12 but that might need to be thought through considering the situation the conference is now in.

It's not that BSU would be bad to go after, if no ally with ACC, and no media deal with ACC, and no merger with ACC, or Big 12, and no able to cherry pick Big 12 teams, etc.

It's just that SDSU, SMU, ARE BETTER choices then BSU.

That said if the Pac 12 had to take 4 group of 5's, the 4 best choices would be SDSU, SMU, BSU, UNLV.

But if don't do something like that, BSU is NOT a good option.

It’s a good option for me, Boise is one of my favorite cities.

This is 2022, not 2007. BSU is not what it used to be. And Boise is the 101st TV market. No value added.

In general, I'm open minded about schools to add but Boise State is far below a lot of other schools that are likely to be desirable for Pac-12 leadership. I've hated BSU since we whipped them in 1997. Entitled idiots who think that beating OU one time a generation ago still means something.

from a selfish perspective BSU would hurt us more then a Fresno State or Texas school would. We’d be going after the same NW kids with very few kids to chose from.

And more then likely recruits would choose BSU in Idaho, over WSU, if BSU joined the Pac 12.

It's hard enough recruiting Washington and having to deal with UW, Oregon, etc.

Eastern WA, State of Idaho, Montana, Eastern Oregon, Northwest corner of Wyoming, North Eastern tip of California, etc, is WSU's front and back yards, front and back porches recruiting wise.

And WSU beats out BSU, WYOMING, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana St, etc, for recruits from that area that are worth getting.

Last thing WSU needs is for BSU to join Pac 12 and consistently beat out, take WSU's back porch, back yard, and maybe even front porch and front yard away from WSU.

Now if the ONLY option is to get SDSU, SMU, BSU, UNLV, then and ONLY then get BSU.

If get BSU in any other options WSU gets weakened, and a weakened WSU is not good for a weakened Pac 12, and not good for WSU.

The Pac 12 is NOT going to get BSU until, unless, IF they the Pac 12 have no other choice then to get SDSU, SMU, BSU, UNLV.

If the Pac 12 only grabbed BSU, SDSU, instead of other options, Schultz, Chun, WSU coaches, etc, would probably, or at least I would hope they would SCREAM NO to the Pac 12.
