Few finally figured out Bolton and Hickman aren't built for March. Malachi Smith and Hunter Sallis are strong enough to take a licking and keep on ticking.Lesser of two evils. Gotta say I’m shocked the zags are still around I thought they’d get bounced early this year.
Few ran the legs off of UCLA, proving once again that baby blue is for soft athletes.Few finally figured out Bolton and Hickman aren't built for March. Malachi Smith and Hunter Sallis are strong enough to take a licking and keep on ticking.
If you can't respect the competitiveness of a guy like Timme, you can't appreciate the beauty of sports. The guy is a warrior. A likeable Christian Laettner. On the other hand, Jaime Juaquez is cut from the same cloth. Old man fundamentals and tough as nails.
Gonzaga will have their hands full with UConn, for sure. But it appears they've got the mojo cooking.
I think you may be forgetting that UCLA was missing TWO starters, their big man that protected the rim very well and the defensive player of the year. Just because they had to play the starters almost the full 40 minutes due to the thin rotation is not really an indication that they were soft.Few ran the legs off of UCLA, proving once again that baby blue is for soft athletes.
I love Timme. It’s crazy to me he’s not considered an NBA prospect. All the guy does is produce and in the biggest moments he produces the most. He goes up against NBA top prospects and makes them look silly. I get that he’s a tweener and not a freak athlete, but tape don’t lie. Dude can hoop and he’s a gamer.Few finally figured out Bolton and Hickman aren't built for March. Malachi Smith and Hunter Sallis are strong enough to take a licking and keep on ticking.

I didn't know that he's not considered NBA worthy. Much as I hate the Zags, I like him too. He was unstoppable. FUCLA should have double-teamed him all night.I love Timme. Nowadays, NBA prospects generally leave after their freshman or sophomore season. Sometimes, there is a player that will stay three years. That Timme is a senior tells you what the NBA thinks of him.I didn't know that he's not considered NBA worthy. Much as I hate the Zags, I like him too. He was unstoppable. Yeah my understanding is that he’s a guy who’s as good as he’s going to be. And in the NBA, doesn’t have the size or athleticism to compete in the paint, and doesn’t have the stroke from the outside to be a big who can shoot. So even though he is a beast in college he’s in no man’s land as far as NBA projection. I dunno, like I said the dude can play and regularly beats up on guys who are supposedly NBA players, so to me he can play at that level. He seems like a poor man's version of Larry Bird.
Watched a recent documentary on Bird.
Jordan, Magic, Kareem, Person, Drexler, etc, the best NBA Hall of Famers, etc, said that Larry Bird was either the best, or one of the best, despite athleticism worse then Timme's, because despite Larry Bird's lack of physical athleticism to play in NBA, that he was the HARDEST WORKER in NBA History, and was so PASSIONATE, COMPETITIVE, that he Bird would REGULARLY SACRIFICE HIS BODY, in order to play good, SHOOT GOOD, PASS GOOD, steal balls, not turn over balls, be good at Rebounding in a Dennis Rodman like way, and be the ultimate CLUTCH, almost never fail in CLUTCH, CRUNCH TIME, and consistently score between 27 to 37 points per game, and 10 rebounds per game, and 5 to 7 to 10 assist per game, and that he was the meanest, nastiest trash talker in History, and had the game to back it up, and get into opposing players heads psychologically speaking.
They said no NBA player did more with less then Larry Bird.
Timme seems a little tiny bit like that, except minus the ego, nasty trash talk, and that he either is not a shooter, or not a GOOD shooter from EVERYWHERE, ANYWHERE on the court, and doesn't have all the various shots, moves, etc, Bird had.
Also Bird had a extremely high basketball IQ, and was INSANE EXTREMELY CRAFTY, etc.
I don't think Timme is that clever, crafty, etc, as a Bird type.
But if Timme was to work his AZZ off, and sacrifice his body, and work on his game, and if given a chance in NBA, I think Timme is, or could be a kinda, sorta, little tiny bit like a semi Bird type, of big in the NBA.
That's the way Timme seems, comes across as having a little potential to be that kind of type of player.
Too bad he is probably not going to get a chance in NBA.
Many of the best NBA players said that if Bird had been a college player in this day and age, that he Bird wouldn't have gotten a shot at the NBA.
I pretty much hated the Celtics growing up. So Bird really wasn’t my favorite player, but is one of my favorite stories (if that makes sense). Recently watched a bunch of YouTube of Bird. You can’t makeup the $h** he pulled off over and over and over. Amazing talent. Can you not compare Timme to one of the greatest players to ever play the game?
Timme can't pass like Bird. Can't shoot like Bird. Can't dribble like Bird. Can't rebound like Bird. Can't defend like Bird.
He is slow and he is white and he hustles. Same can be said for Tyler Hansbouroh or Chris Dudley and others.
As far as Bird getting a shot in today's game, that take is nuts.
Magic was saying they were playing in some kind of Summer tournament the year before with the best players in the country and he lit everybody up.. Nobody could stop him.
If you can get discovered in 79 with no internet or social media, you can get discovered in today's game. How do you think these European players get discovered?

Yup, exactly what I was talking about on the trash talking videos on YouTube. The Greatest Stories from players like Cedric Maxwell, Rick Mahorn, Magic, X, Patric Ewing, Charlie Barkley, and more were pretty incredible. Great stories for sure, and they all had me cracking up.I was a huge fan since I grew up in Indiana.
Those YouTube vids and the stories of him trash talking are epic.

Oh man, hadn't seen the Mashburn video. Hilarious! In the 2nd video, I don't remember the pass he made going through the legs of I believe Joe Barry Carroll of Golden State. Going left-handed against Portland, the Atlanta Hawk's end of the bench reaction when he hits the 3 for 60 over (I believe) Tree Rollins. I never get tired of watching his highlights. Magic was magic, but Bird was a magician as well. One thing Mashburn also noted in his video was how big Bird was physically. "Legit 6'10" doing those things. He was vastly underrated athletically as well. Here's a good one in case you haven't seen it.
And a mix tape in case others still think Drew Timme is a poor mans Larry Bird.
Timme isn’t Larry Bird. They don’t even play the same position. A moustache is about their only similar characteristic.
A likeable Laettner would be closer comparison. Though Laettner could step out and shoot a little better and had more mid range game.

My younger self would hate to admit it, but he's the best. There are other in the discussion. Of course, Jordan and Magic, etc., but IMHO it's Bird period.
On another note, Red Auerbach was a genius.
I can think of one…maybe twoZero similarities between Bird and Timme!
