Go Georgia!

Won’t help us, but maybe it knocks bammy out of playoffs—Clemson, Georgia, and ND should be a lock for top 4, and The Bucknutz thrashing of Michigan gives them a good shot at jumping bammy.

How? A NY6 bowl game is guaranteed to the highest rated champion of a non-power 5 conference. If it isn't UCF, it will be either Boise State or Fresno State.

I stand corrected. Can’t blame a guy for trying. It would at least get us in the top 12.

I can’t see OSU passing Oklahoma. Texas is higher rated than Northwestern but then again we are dealing with the CFP committee.

Alabama will 100% still be in the playoffs with a loss (prob #4) and they should be. They are at worst the 3rd best team in the country and probably higher.

I’m still rooting for UGA but a win might mean another all-SEC title game, and a straight repeat of last year.

I am too lazy to read all the CFP/NY6 rules, but I did learn a little. As in Pac-12, Big-10 and Big 12 all get to send their next-best team to the below Bowls if their champ is one of the top 4. ACC gets Acc'ed out because the Orange IS one of the playoff bowls. So that explains why two Big-12 and Big-10 teams will get to the NY6. Same with SEC, although that happens anyway because of bias. So with ND in, and the Group of 5 in, that leaves 10 slots for the Power 5. Only one ACC team, leaving 9. Big 10 and 12 are guaranteed 2 teams if their champ makes the playoffs. Pac-12 is guaranteed the Rose only.

The following bowls have tie-ins with the following conference champions in the years they are not hosting playoff semifinals.
  • Rose Bowl: Big Ten vs. Pac-12
  • Sugar Bowl: SEC vs. Big 12
  • Orange Bowl: ACC
So I don't know who should beat who to help us. I guess Georgia to make the top 4 ahead of Oklahoma and OSU, and OSU to lose to NW? Thus guaranteeing only one team for both those conferences? SEC is going to at least get two no matter what, and probably at least 3. 4 would be BS.

Memphis winning could be enough to get us into the 12 position which would qualify for the Fiesta Bowl.
Yes, UCF would probably fall behind us, so we’d edge up to 12. But in that case, we need to be 11, because Boise state or Fresno state would get the Fiesta.

The one thing we definitely don’t want is Oklahoma to make the playoff. If they do, Texas gets the Sugar, eliminating everyone outside the top 10.

Clemson and Ohio state blowout wins give us our best shot.

Probably with the SEC bias, but I think there’s a slight chance osu sneaks in with a big win and some favorable voting

Clearly anything can happen with this awful committee, but tOSU is so obviously so shaky, it would be a massive scandal for them to drop the most successful team in CFB history for its first loss this year and only it’s second loss in 20+ games. Not that it couldn’t happen, but they’re not exactly lil ol WSU

Well, history shouldn’t come in to play when the votes come out, and UGA is working them over.

OSU just walloped the number 4 team. If they kill NW OSU should jump them

the officiating in this game was a farce, how many flags have to picked up at crucial points for them to stay close and pull out the win
If you think there's an officiating conspiracy going on in the Pac-12, you'd have to think there's one in the American Conference for sure. Three extremely crucial calls went UCF's way...two of them were flags thrown for obvious infractions against the undefeated UCF (chop block and defensive holding) and then picked up. You think that conference was rooting hard for their 11-0 team to win so that they could get to a NY6 game? Memphis was never going to get any benefit of the doubt and actually got screwed, IMO. There's way too much money involved in college football for there not to be some undue influence.

Glad Cougar
