According to multiple reports, Gonzaga forward Lucas Meikle will not return for his sophomore season. The 6-foot-8, 200-pounder played in 15 games for the Bulldogs as a freshman and averaged 0.9 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

Meikle is is originally out of Tacoma (Wash.) Bellarmine Prep. It will be interesting to see if Ernie Kent and staff take a sniff at the in-state product or if he decides to drop down and play immediately.

Jeez, the cougs already have enough of these"serviceable players" on the roster.I just cannot understand why anyone would want a guy like this . If the cougs go after guys like this, they will forever be relegated to the cellar of the PAC 12.The cougs already have players like Hawkinson and Boese, why recruit more? It shows that the culture of basketball needs to be changed if posters want Kent to recruit a player like him. Did you even stop to look at his stats ? He belongs in D!! or D 111 basketball.

He's worth a look but he's a ways a way. Boese has a really good shot but he's a tweener and Hawkinson is a 5. When we start to get the likes of Kyle Wiltjer transferring in from Kentucky or signing Domantas Sabonis and players transfer because they see the writing on the wall then I'll agree. We do need to get those kind of talents at some point if we really want to compete in the Pac 12 but saying he's worth a look doesn't mean we should sign him.

Kent will figure whether he 's worth an offer. I wonder whether Kent had any interest the first time around. Might be wrong but I remember both WSU and I think the UW coming in on him before early signing but he was a Zag at that point.

This guy was NR and the only offer he got was from Gonzaga. The previous coug staff passed on him,so that should tell you something .Gonzaga took a risk and he obviously was not what they had hoped for. Kent cannot take guys like this or he will end up in the elephant boneyard. of coaches. While he has not recruited a Sabonis or others.,Kent has recruited some good players. The "serviceable players" will end up in South Dakota.Eastern or San Diego as Kent kicks his program into high gear.

Agreed,Kent was not hired to recruit projects. The last coaching staff did just that with disastrous results

This kid is heads and tails above what Kent has brought in this year. Not saying it's his fault with the late start but this kid is a solid D1 player who just wasn't going to get time on what will be a top 20 team. If we are interested he and Lacy both workout with the same trainer.

This kid was not sought by any major colleges. If one goes back all the articles written about Gonzaga last year, all were astounded that he was offered a scholarship. They all thought that he would be invited to walk on. If Kent recruits him it is because of utter despair in not being able to recruit solid D1 players. Come on,the object is to beat Gonzaga ,not recruit their castoffs. This guy is a skinny nonatheletic player who belongs at San Diego or South Dakota.Hell, the rest of the PAC 12 programs would laugh at a recruit like this.WSU has had enough of these types of recruits.

Bellarmine is a feeder school for Gonzaga. The kid didn't want to go anywhere else, which is the reason his offer sheet was light.

If Kent wants him then so do I.

The fact that he was 6'8 190 pds and an inside player also had a lot to do with it.He saw the handwriting on the wall and realized that he would never play meaningful minutes, which led to his transfer. His dream school cut him loose because he was not good enough for D1 basketball.. I cannot see how fans would want a player like this. The coug fans have been numbed by a talent drought and have such low expectations. The basketball culture definitely has to be changed. Kent can and must do better than accept D 1 programs cast offs. Can one imagine how a frontline of Boese,Hawkinson and this guy would fare in the PAC 12? I rather not envision this scenario

I trust Mark Few's judgement. He was willing to spend an awful lot of money and precious scholarship on this kid

You win some, you lose some and it is all in the game. Mark it down Gonzaga 's roster is one fewer now. Quit trying to hurt recruiting! Can one imagine if a potential recruit thought that this guy at 0.9 pts and 0.7 rbs was going to new their new teammate? I trust Kent in reaching higher and to bring in top talent. Kent has a very good coaching resume and has reached two Elite *'s. He did not do that by accepting other teams; rejects. The whole idea that was floated about this kid is just plain nonsense. We need to change the culture just like Leach is doing in football. WSU now has a coach who knows what is needed and will deliver the goods. It is a good time for a recruit to become part of the building plan.

It is simple my man. Recruits want to go to programs who will make it to the Big Dance. They do not think that having castoffs as teammates .from other programs will have that result. It some posters make it look like this guy is a viable option, they will say thanks, but no thanks. So quit the nonsense and admit that this guy is not a PAC 12 quality player.Recruits may read this board and think that you actually know something about the basketball program.

I don't know much about the kid at all other than he got an offer from the school he wanted and took it.

If Kent wants him, so do I.

If Kent doesn't, I don't care what he does.

Before anyone's head explodes, I want to make it clear that not one single person in the realm of the Internet, and WazzuWatch.com, in particular, has made any indication, or pointed out in any way, that Ernie Kent should recruit and/or sign Lucas Meikle.

ROTFLMAO. Good one Britton. Now if you could just explain to El how to post in the thread!

Of course I do not follow "rules" or say what people expect me to say.Postng 101 or rather 010 is for other people ,of course
