I think that the refs stole the game. It turned out to be a mockery of a title game.
One of the worst officiating games I've seen in a long time. In the 2nd half for a long stretch, a whistle almost every possession for both teams, who were both in the bonus at roughly the 14 minute mark. It destroyed any kind of rhythm or flow either team might have had. However, bad calls went both ways and seemed to be equally called. Both teams also played very poorly on offense, officiating aside. UNC 4 for 27 from 3-point land? That's hardly championship level shooting. Gonzaga goes more than 8 minutes without a field goal? Brutal. Really frustrating game to watch even if it was close.
Before the start of the game, Jim Nantz made the obligatory comment, as he introduced the 3-man officiating team, "these are the three best in college basketball and that's why they've drawn this assignment." Heaven help the NCAA if those were the three best officials.

The refs didn't miss the open looks both teams were getting for most of the game. The stadiums they put the Final 4 in doesn't always lead to the best games. What we can probably agree upon is that the referees took the game away from the players .The referees helped decide the game and that should not happen in a National Championship game
Their marching orders must have also included getting NC big men Meeks and Hicks into quick foul trouble as well. Meeks picked up fouls 2,3,and 4 by about the 10 minute mark of the second half, Hicks had #4 not long after. I saw no bias in the poor officiating, both teams were disrupted....but both also played poorly offensively, IMO.

The biggest missed call was Egor putting a chokehold on a Tarheel and the call going against UNC.There were definitely times where the refs got more involved more than they may have needed to be, but this was just a sloppy, gritty game that wasn't going to look good no matter how the referees called the game. I absolutely don't agree with the idea that the referees helped decide the game. They didn't make any egregious errors that truly favored either team. The closest to that was the missed call when the UNC player was out of bounds and touching the ball, but that doesn't really fall into "deciding the game" category. This wasn't like our WNIT game against Georgia Tech where WSU was called for 19 fouls versus 8 for Georgia Tech. Both Gonzaga and UNC had 22 fouls called on them. Both teams took 26 free throws (compared to the 25-7 disparity of the WNIT game).
It may have been over-officiated but Gonzaga fans complaining about the referees deciding the game are just butt-hurt that their lumbering behemoth couldn't hit the broad side of a barn that night and that Williams-Goss decided to suck on the biggest stage of his life. Those two went 5-22 inside the arc and Gonzaga lost because of that. Of course, they are fortunate that UNC couldn't hit a three to save their souls and spent the whole night failing to realize it.
.........Cougs it! Bwahahahaha!!!
Someone really needs attention...
