Such a fake tuff guyJimmy just jacked one of his players in the face and pushed him in the back. Totally lost control of the team. Hate to see it.
Probably cheat and then quitIf you are going to these lengths as a HFC, you don’t get it.
What would Don James have done?
I call him Duck HolidaySpeaking of tools; Crystal balls shadow/strength/stache guy is strutting the sidelines.
They are soft AF. If our boys bring their A game next week we will beat them.Oregon feels decent about itself, goes into a soft defense on most downs, and instantly gives up a TD drive that UW offense had no business executing. There's no way Oregon is the 4th best team in the country.
Dumb AF too. Two stupid penalties that take your team out of game icing FG range? How F’in stupid can you be. UW gonna have a chance to take it down and tie it here.They are soft AF. If our boys bring their A game next week we will beat them.
His mentor at EWU punted once punted late in the Apple Cup vs Sark.The coach of the "academic prowess" UW decides to punt the ball down 8 with under 2 minutes to go on 4th and 10 at his own 10. Bad snap out of the endzone results in a safety. Even if UW gets the punt off, UO likely to run out the clock. I'm sure Husky fans are super happy with their coach.
Glad Cougar
This team seems to bring it on the road. Cal and ASU were both pretty thorough asskickings. Some teams get an extra edge with the us against the world mentality. I don’t think Oregon overlooks us by any stretch though, although that was a chippy game last night so maybe they come out a little flat? Either way, I think if we play our game we beat them. The D better snap it up though Oregon is going to need to run for 300 and take the air out of the ball and they know it.I feel better about both next week and the Apple Cup based on this game. If we had both these teams at home I would feel decently about our chances against Oregon and very good about our chances in the Apple Cup. On the road, it's tougher. Oregon isn't that good, but it's still hard to go into Autzen and beat those guys, and UW is a pretty tough out at home despite being horrible. I hate to say it, but UW has shown this year that it's pretty good at winning close games where it plays terribly (see Cal, Arizona, and Stanford), and I always feel that way against UW in the Apple Cup, especially in Seattle. UW is just a few plays away from being 1-7.
Current forecast for Eugene on Saturday is 61 degrees and 30% chance of rain.This team seems to bring it on the road. Cal and ASU were both pretty thorough asskickings. The fact that the official didn’t immediately throw a flag for contact with him says something. They usually don’t tolerate that…and these were Pac-12 refs.I can't believe that I am moved to defend Jimmy the Fake Lake in any form or fashion.
However, in reviewing the film clip of Jimmy running into the group of players getting chippy and the official getting it under control, it seems pretty clear that:
- Jimmy started running toward the altercation just as it started;
- by the time he got there the official was getting it under control;
- Jimmy was clearly pissed at his player. There was more to it than just what we saw; I suspect this player has a history of this and Jimmy had probably told the whole team to avoid this crap;
- he did not punch anybody. He slapped a face mask, then after the kid turned him around, he shoved him out of the area. That does not rise to the level of Woody Hayes, and is frankly does not even rise to the level of being objectionable in my mind.
- IMHO Jimmy's worst infraction in this case was to not give a nod to the official before removing his player from the vicinity. Since I don't know what Jimmy heard coming out of his player's mouth as he arrived on the scene, it is quite possible that the words were bad enough that Jimmy's response was viewed as reasonable by the official, as well as other team members. That, to me, is the missing piece of the discussion. Jimmy's action may have saved an ejection, depending upon what the player was in the process of saying...or what Jimmy was concerned that he was about to say.
Long story short, though I have minimal respect for Lake, this is not an open and shut case of coaching misconduct. It just isn't. And depending upon what was coming out of his player's mouth as he arrived, it might have been the smartest course of action for Jimmy.
