Gordon not going in the first 5 rounds....really PISSES ME OFF!

To Jags to boot. Luton has the “prototypical” NFL QB body but the best QB in the league is the same height as Gordon and same type of release. Leach’s Air Raid puts QB’s in a box I guess.
GM's gotta love that one:) Another 6-6 QB with smaller hands....oh joy!

That sucks. I'm not shocked to see him go before Gordon but I would have wanted it to be another team. Jacksonville doesn't really need another cheap, inexperienced QB when it has so many other needs, especially if it thinks Minshew is the answer for a while.

At least Luton won't be much of a threat as a backup for a while, and the Jags will have money available to get some help on the OL and some other places.

"I never said Gordon would be drafted.

I said Gabe Gubrud would have been drafted by now if Paul Wulff was still coach"

Haha.

Wait until you see him get critical of Rolovich once he starts winning. If he doesn't Rolovich has his #1 defender.

He never threw anything deep.
He never threw to the left.
He never saw anything but a 3 man, drop 8 defense.
He has zero film of play action.
He has zero film of him taking drops.
He had one season of starting.

There is a lot going against AG. Some of it valid, maybe some of it not. There are a lot of things he didn't show on film that NFL teams want to see.

Same with Minshew and Falk and they went in round 5. I mean they are taking dudes that threw for 1,100 yards. He has shown enough with his release and accuracy to take a flier on late.

True...but I think he throws a nice ball and is accurate so maybe a team will take a chance on him as a free agent.

I think he can stick around in the right system..but then again the problem is the NFL isn't a developmental league.

And the dude from Hawaii.

And the guy from Mississippi State threw for 1,155 yards last season. But he’s 6-5, 230. So, what did he do to get drafted other than grow.

Apparently not cause he hasn't been picked.

I have no doubt he will be in a camp. Choose the right scheme and staff and he has a shot.

What did they see in Stevens and DiNici? And Luton? And Eason even?

Watch Gordon late in season when he got flushed to his right...seems like bad things would happen. Just like Connor. You have to wonder if the NFL might have seen a thrower who seemed more concerned with TD's than wins and didn't have that same grit as GM or Falk earlier in his career.

I wish I was correct as well. But there were times late in the season he looked like Connor. Maybe the NFL questioned why he didn't check into a run against a three man line. Or maybe they thought Gage was better....

I seldom root against folks, and I won't root against Luton.

But if a QB draft choice ever screamed, "Project", this is one of them. He seldom looked really comfortable to me.

But I don't make my living evaluating draft choices, so maybe I'm completely wrong about the young man.

Or maybe they figure that they can always turn him into a tight end ;)

I watched the Beaver game last night and knowing the outcome it's a little easier to be objective.

I thought the kid was pretty good. Has a strong arm and I think he is more accurate than Eason.

I don't think he's better than Gordon...but the NFL is still in love with the strong arm.

Luton looked fine against our Swiss cheese defense.

Release and accuracy don't mean much if you don't have vision. Gordon had too much aversion to the left side. Rarely even looked there (although I still haven't seen a spray chart for his throws). If you really watch the game films, most of his completions to the receivers lining up on the left where when they ran routes that crossed to the right.

Being right-handed, Minshew and Falk also obviously favored the right, but now so dramatically. Minshew used the whole field pretty well. He even scrambled left. Falk wasn't as bad about it as Gordon (and didn't scramble at all), but what really got him drafted was being a 3-year starter.

I think the reads went from right to left, which would explain that some what. It should be noted that Arconado was the starter at the Y receiver which is the slot receiver on the left side in a 2 x 2 set. Throwing to Arconado- who frankly was open a lot, seems to be the issue.
