Per football scoop Harrell is has been named the new outside receivers coach. I had assumed he would be promoted to this position once Simmons left, so not a huge surprise to me. Perhaps some of you thought it might be someone else. Once he was brought in last year I figured he was an assistant coach in waiting, after hearing how much help he was to Conner last year, I think it will work out just fine, he knows the offense as well as anyone.

I think it's a good move, though he'll be one that we probably can't hold on to for long, seeing as we've already had 2 former Leach players who were WR coaches move on (Morris & Simmons). I think he is a good recruiter as well, which is big bonus.

I am fine with this as well. As a former QB, he does know the offense as well as anyone. He will be able to teach routes and also explain to the receivers how a QB thinks and what they can do to be on the same page. We don't know if he will be a good recruiter yet. We assume he would be, but we don't know.

I felt this was a possibility a few weeks ago for a few reasons:
1. Harrell can recruit Texas and the midwest.
2. Simmons was kind of Leach's right hand man on the sidelines. You almost get the sense that this position is an "on field" assistant OC.
3. I really think having a QB can teach the WR's a QB's perspective and get these kids on the same page.

Not a great choice by any means. Perhaps he needs to go back and clean up his tweets,if he has not done so already.Enuff said.

He (and JJ Jackson) took over as a recruiter when Breske and Volero were fired all the way up until Manning was hired I believe.

The NCAA allowed this as we were down 2 guys headed into a key recruiting time. There are a bunch of photos of recruits with Harrell and Leach during in-home visits. Just based on the internets, people were saying he was doing well with it and does well when recruits are in Pullman.

With the new additions to the staff, I am thinking WSU can really pull in some banner classes here in the next year or two.

That is a funny parody account - thanks for the heads up, and the laugh, ElComanche. My two cents: It's a good hire. They have more than enough experience on offense to help him along with the receivers, which I don't think he'll need a ton of help with.

As another poster mentioned, there's not many people that know this offense more than Harrell. He'll be a great recruiter, too. He should be able to head into Texas, SoCal and spot recruiting the Midwest. He's done a lot of work with the quarterbacks they've already recruited - Hilinski and Bender - through social media and such.

I added some more thoughts in the War Room, but it's a good hire and he's someone that's already been recruiting the 2016 class, so there's no transition there.

Only if Graham Harrell woulda played Outside Linebacker at BYU for 4yrs instead of running Leach's Air Raid for 3.
