from the doomsayers? it wasn't perfect but one helluva a lot better than what we have seen for the last several years
My complaint is the way we let up in the second half. Defense went to sleep and gave their QB too much time and space. We gave up another kick return TD. OSU should not have hit 32.from the doomsayers? it wasn't perfect but one helluva a lot better than what we have seen for the last several years

I was hoping Bender would get the 4th quarter if not a little more playing time. Would have been nice to get some young OLM, Sweet, etc. some reps as well. Looked like more of the backups were in on defense like Leniu, Tago, and Parker. Next step is sustaining their focus no matter what the scoreboard says for a lot longer. They know it though. The only thing that I would have liked to have seen was for us to extend the lead enough that Bender could have had some decent time under center (along with our other youngsters). It's rare to get playing time against a real life Pac-12 foe when you are young when there is no pressure and we missed that opportunity yesterday. A great win nevertheless.
A win is like sex even when it is bad it is good. (Ok Bigg's girlfriend might disagree)
Does this win mean anything for our game in Tucson? Not really. I felt confident we would win in Eugene, and once again against OSU. NOt so much against Arizona. Why? Matchups.
Sure there are things we could comment on that gives me pause when we play against Arizona, but a win is a win.
Eh, they were up four touchdowns at half in a conference game- a position so foreign to this program it may as well be Siberia- and they got it in the barn without even a whiff of the game becoming competitive. It's a good job for the first time.I too was a little bummed we didn't put on foot on their throat in the second half. IMO, good teams will completely knock the life out of teams early in the 3rd to hand it over to the reserves later in the game.
Well....you assuming Solomon doesn't play. If he doesn't and they are one dimensional they could have a back or back go for 250 like Oregon did and we are still in the game. Until we can show we can stop that offense that has a QB, I think we match up poorly. UA;s defense is designed to slow down our offense. We could run for 200 but we won't. Would it surprise me if we win this one? No overly surprised. What about Arizona worries you? UA defense is worse than ours. Their QB situation appears unstable. If Solomon gets the hook, UA is one dimensional. We've proven we can survive one dimensional rushing attacks.

Every defense is designed to slow down an offense. And Solomon has been injured, and not very good. So what exactly about him do you think makes UA some unstoppable force?
I don't think he's unstoppable, or even all that good, but he is their starting QB; more familiar and experienced than anyone else they have. We have a better chance of winning without him playing, IMO.
Well....we struggled with the offense 3-4 years, and the second year they literally had a qb that couldn't complete a forward pass. We gave up 250 yards plus to Oregon without their starting qb. Solomon may be inconsistent, but like Adams is a playmaker.Every defense is designed to slow down an offense. And Solomon has been injured, and not very good. I thought I did. If Solomon plays I think we struggle getting a win at Arizona. I think it will be a close game. They potentially have a really good running game and we struggle with the read option and many times holding the edge.Do you actually have a point regarding Arizona? If so, go ahead and post it.

Hmmmm...did I say it wasn't a tossup? I think it will be a close game. My concern is if Arizona rushes the ball effectively that is actually the best defense they can employ against WSU. Keep the ball away from Falk. Ball on the ground means less time. Less time means less plays. If I was a neutral observer, and had to bet 10k on one team or another, I would take Arizona simply because in Tucson, special teams, and the ability to control clock.Thankfully, Arizona's defense is worse than WSU's this season, especially since Scooby Wright went down win an injury. They have been especially vulnerable to the pass. So, if WSU can play at a high level offensively, they do have more than a decent chance of winning. Not saying they will, but I think this game is more of a tossup that you believe.
