Happy that Harrington doesn't have to carry any blame for a loss

Great point. So am I. Did they let him in the game after his second fumble?

He's dynamic and will have some great days ahead of him playing football.

He cares. He knows the mistakes he made. Just like all the players do. That's what's frustrating about people complaining while these young guys go through their issues. They so so badly want to win and be incredible, and sometimes mistakes happen. It's not Leach's fault. It's not Harrington's fault. It's just what happens when you have young guys playing.

We are at that point where we have a Pac 12 roster finally. We can compete against anybody, but at times because we are young things are going to be frustrating. Pretty much all of Oregon's players were higher rated than ours but without that magical mariotta they were human, they were vulnerable, and a young team on the rise came in and beat them in their own house in overtime. The real future for WSU is on the horizon, and we are watching it materialize before our very eyes.

Man, I am not sure I have seen a player so upset he fumbled. I believe thats a good sign that the kid really cares. He is young and extremely talented. Hopefully against Ore Sate we can see his dad go crazy after Keith scores another TD. Great post Yaki

Wow, that guy was absolutely distraught after that second fumble. The young man is a true talent.
Yaki, I was actually talking to someone after the game and said the player I was happiest for was Harrington. He's made an impact and hopefully he doesn't allow this to hurt his play.

I said the same thing. He made some great plays and just couldn't hold on to the ball today for some reason. Dude is a talent.

The coolest thing for me was his teammates after that second fumble (I think it was Allison and Wicks + a few more) went over and consoled him but in a "there's a game left, we get your pissed, you should be pissed, but we need you, keep your head up...we can win this game" type of way. That speaks volumes to me where this team has grown.

I'm glad that it isn't hanging on his head. I'm also glad that he was upset about the fumble. The thing that's been holding us back the past couple years is the moronic mistakes that we make that end up costing us games. Even if it was a good play on Oregon's part, Harrington's job is to hold on to the ball and he should feel like a walking pile of garbage for letting them make that play. He had a total of four times that he rushed the ball (one called back by holding) and he fumbled on half of those attempts. That is inexcusable and Leach did the right thing in not putting him back on the field during the game. What he needs to do is learn from it and prove to his teammates and coaches that they can trust him. If every player on our team made one less mistake per game, it could be a damned fine football team. I don't think one bad game should ever define anyone's career, but with Morrow and Wicks playing as well as they are, he needs to be better if he wants to see the field.

Harrington's young. That's not going to keep him down. When you play RB; particularly in an offense where you catch the ball in space and run 80-100 plays/game, you're going to fumble and drop passes occasionally.

Fumbled twice carrying the ball in the wrong hand, but it was one of several "efforts" that tried to Cal this game too. The OL just stopped blocking for a while. Falk went from stud to dud and back to stud, and the defense was schizo. Hopefully this was a "over the hump" game on the finding way to lose front. Imagine if this team stopped shooting itself in the foot? Glimpes of potential greatness all over the place.

One of the good things about the Harrington situation is that he could be taken out after that second fumble and the other RBs picked up the slack. It's starting to look like a 3-headed monster at running back, which is a luxury we haven't had. I'm hoping we can mix in just a few more runs....like we did in the 4th quarter and OT....since these RBs are talented, run hard, and hopefully they won't turn the ball over. That makes our offense mighty tough to defend.

Glad Cougar

Morrow was on fire.

Harrington has things he has to work on to become a better player. I think after last night he will recognize the situation and put in the work. He is going to be very good. Maybe the best open field runner I've seen since Harrison.

Agreed, though nobody will ever top The Ghost I don't think. He wasn't the most powerful runner and his top speed wasn't track quality, but he had fantastic quicks and acceleration, and superhuman vision. The way he could see a defender to the side and juke/jump/slide just out of reach and keep going upfield, it was ridiculous. As if somebody in the press box was playing Madden and controlling him. Still a shame he never got a chance to be the guy in the big time. May have been too small for that role, but man when he got his chance... There might be a couple people in KC still having nightmares about that years later.
