Holmgren

I saw the play on ESPN. He was trying to guard LeBron and looked like he just twisted his ankle. Obviously it was more than that.

it’s a shame. Hopefully he’s able to recover and it doesn’t become a chronic issue. Too many examples of brutal foot injuries that have disrupted careers. Holmgren’s has barely started.

Foot injuries and big guys have a long history and it’s not a good one! Hope it’s not lingering problem

Yep. Walton, Ming, Oden, Bowie, are a few that come to mind.
So many JailBlazers in that list and so many indirect connections to the Sonics.

Add Holmgren. He was picked by OKC and injured in Seattle - though his feet were probably a ticking time bomb.

Bowie wasn't that good even before his injury. He was between a semi no name and semi ok, semi below average, to average player, that got absolutely destroyed, posterized by Shawn Kemp, in the first round playoffs vs Golden State

Injuries cost him. He also missed two junior and senior year of college with injury. He was granted a medical redshirt and played as a redshirt senior. Without his injuries, he could have been a very good player. But, he was never the same, and he was drafted too high for what his injury history was.

That semi no name, semi ok, semi below average to average player was a third team all American, a second team all American and NBA rookie first team. Injuries derailed what could have been a much more productive career but he still played 10 years and averaged 11 points and almost 8 rebounds a game. Obviously should never have been drafted ahead of Jordon but that shouldn’t diminish his career, that’s on the GM who drafted him.
The funniest part of your post is the fact neither Kemp or Bowie ever played for Golden State!!

Sam Bowie was the #1 high school basketball player in America his senior year - ahead of Ralph Sampson.

Made the 1980 Olympic team after his freshman year in college.

Injuries derailed his career but that guy was a talent.
