It almost seems like this is two different seasons. A completely different team before the bye week.
I’m still holding hope that we win three more games.

Wowever...They will out tumble for ya!!! They'll out tumble ya!!They. Wont.
Not sure that’s true. OSU just handled UCLA, who handled us. Wisconsin doesn’t have an impressive win, but they’re 4-2 and are a likely bowl team.Because those teams aren't very good.
Smoke and mirrors on the OL.It almost seems like this is two different seasons. A completely different team before the bye week.

Leachs teams had great running numbers when they decided to run it. Against everyone not named UW you could just about guarantee 5 yards was there in a 5 man box. Those OLines had guys that wanted to hit someone though. Over the last two weeks this group has proven to be the opposite. It does look like two different offenses.
Ward was throwing darts and now he doesn't look confident
Regarding the o-line....CML apparently took 5 in each class. He may not have had the best running numbers but the QB had time to pass
Cougs still have time to right the ship and they have 4 games which they still might be favored
Ward holds the ball too long, changes the play too much, no rhythemSmoke and mirrors on the OL.
And he’s the best QB we have. So what do you suggest?Ward holds the ball too long, changes the play too much, no rhythem
Coach him, clearly no progress has been made with himAnd he’s the best QB we have. So what do you suggest?

Wow. Amazing wisdom here. I figured Arbuckle was just crushing brews all week then sobered up on Saturdays for a few hours.Coach him, clearly no progress has been made with him
This isnt progress, its regression. Jack Thompson came off the bench , a thitd stringer. According to you he should have stayed there since he wasnt the best qbWow. Amazing wisdom here. I figured Arbuckle was just crushing brews all week then sobered up on Saturdays for a few hours.
Did you watch the first four games? Did you see progress in those? Do you expect progress to be a nice linear improvement every week?
So, you expect linear upward progression every week no matter the opponent. And assuming you believe Mateer is the savior, you saw him throw the pick on the double pass, right? This isnt progress, it’s regression. Jack Thompson came off the bench , a thitd stringer. I said nothing about mateerSo, you expect linear upward progression every week no matter the opponent. And assuming you believe Mateer is the savior, you saw him throw the pick on the double pass, right?
Cmon Gibbons he was a WR on that play! So, you expect linear upward progression every week no matter the opponent. And assuming you believe Mateer is the savior, you saw him throw the pick on the double pass, right?
Are you offering a solution or just complaining?I said nothing about mateer
They can beat oregon if lanning keeps going for itReplacing Ward could make a difference, but I don't think it will. Our offensive line is awful, and our running game is laughably inadequate. I can't believe how slow we are at RB. I watched the Idaho/Montana game on Saturday night, and there were at least 3 backs on the field who could start for us. How does a D1 program with the recent offensive success that we've had not have at least a small, quick running back to keep defenses honest? We hit Watson on wide open check downs in the flat, and he takes 10 seconds to turn around and gather himself.
Oregon State has a much more slump proof offense than we do. They run a system that mirrors Chris Peterson's at Boise and UW. They have 2 quality running backs and B!G caliber offensive line. We jumped on them early, and Ward and the WRs played a nearly perfect game. The Beavs still almost beat us. They were running ball at will when they wanted to. They're the perfect matchup against UCLAs defense, as they ran the ball right at them. Same with Utah. I like the Beavs, but they finish their season with UW and Oregon back-to-back. I can't see them winning either of those games.
That play was pretty horrific. He had time I think, should have gone to another receiver (if there were any) or ran it. Not even a good throw. So, you expect linear upward progression every week no matter the opponent. And assuming you believe Mateer is the savior, you saw him throw the pick on the double pass, right?
Should have just tucked and run. That play was pretty horrific. He had time I think, should have gone to another receiver (if there were any) or ran it. Not even a good throw.
That said, the guy gets in there for a usually trick play once or twice a game. I Imagine he had the play down - roll out and hit the guy deep. So he did (or tried). I would like to see him put in for a real, full series. One that doesn't involve planned QB sneaks.
That's what I said. Again, they throw the kid in for these random trick plays. Give him a chance to run a real series with real plays. And not what Price did to Kegel. Run, QB draw, swing pass. Every time.Should have just tucked and run.
You’re assuming Oregon is going to have a 4th down to begin withThey can beat oregon if lanning keeps going for it
Pat Mahomes is the bane of good quarterback play. Every kid now thinks they can/ should throw 3/4 or sidearm while falling backwards. That play was pretty horrific. He had time I think, should have gone to another receiver (if there were any) or ran it. Not even a good throw.

We are apparently not capable of recruiting an excellent running back or getting one to transfer in.Replacing Ward could make a difference, but I don't think it will. OP seems right. Something is different after the bye. Our heads aren’t in the game.
