So this Arizona border wall thing has hit Fox and the NY Post. I'm waiting for the real facts from CNN, the beacon of all things true. BTW, anyone been watching CNN's Clarissa Ward in Syria? This chick (she's pretty hot BTW) is the bravest thing I've ever seen, Recent link below. With all the news and rumor shit flying around, how did this just hit the radar? According to the (cough) reputable news organization, previous sale(s) have taken place. I really want to understand this, beyond the "Biden is doing it to spite Trump" nonsense. What I don't understand is a couple reports saying that the sections of wall are "junk" and cannot be used. How much damage can they have after sitting out in the heat for 4 years, and filled with concrete? Is that claim just a diversion attempt to make us think that it is okay to sell the stuff (meaning impede Trump and his MAGA gang) from continuing the wall construction? I just don't believe that those panels have suffered any damage other than possible/probable surface rust.
I love Clarissa. She's a solid news reporter right up there with Holly Williams. These ladies have been on the front lines many times over the years (Williams more so) but definitely dedicated. They seem to have no life outside of news reporting. That's all I have to say about that

I think the funny thing about people who want to claim it’s some big injustice that the 1/6 assholes had to face the music is two fold. The wall is stupid. Mexicans have proved for decades that Americans can’t build a fence or wall that they can’t get over, under, through, or around. (Who remembers the old joke: why doesn’t Mexico have a summer Olympic team?)
No type of barricade will be effective if it’s not actively monitored. Even then, Germany proved for decades that even if the wall is staffed by men with guns, people are still going to get past it.
Best way to slow down border crossings is to reduce the incentives. End the handouts, come down hard on the employers who hire illegals, and revise the birthright citizenship to require that parents have legal status themselves at the time of birth.

As long as migrants are getting paid on this side of the border, they’re going to find a way past it. Doesn’t really matter what we build. It’s a really simple personal cost-benefit analysis - their opportunity here is much better, and the worst that happens is we catch them and send them back. Not a big deal. So it’s simple - remove the opportunity, make the sanction worse, or both. A wall doesn’t do that.
Trump and his pals are talking about efficiency and effectiveness. So don’t waste money on construction. Spend it on going after the people who are hiring illegals, and on better methods of monitoring the border. A wall is a waste of time.

Besides, the farming side is not where the bigger problem lies - at least not in private, family-run farms. The processing plants and corporate farms are the bigger violators. Tyson foods, ConAgra, every producer connected to McDonalds…those are your targets.

The complexion of a lot of those seems to have been switching back to a lighter shade recently, but there’s still a lot of shady stuff….especially in the residential development companies.
But, the other element that needs to be mixed in is that it’s got to be made easier for migrants to get work legally. Change the cost-benefit analysis for the employers too, so it’s riskier and more expensive to hire illegals, but it’s easier to hire/get people with work visas. That way we also get the benefit of their taxes too.
There would not be any support there for removing illegals. All a bunch of big fcking talkers. You are telling yourself a bullshit story to justify your bad logic. Remove the labor and replace it with who? Remove the labor and how do you pay the bank? Choose one, no illegal labor or lose the family farm? Because that is the choice. And what does it look like? A prison bus rolls up to a farm or processing plant…. And agents start chasing people down. Tackling them in the corn rows. Cars chasing them down the road as they try to drive away. Road blocks set up around the perimeter. Zip tieing hands behind backs and driving a busload of people away? Guns drawn or not?
It could be a pretty ugly scene that unfolds across America’s farms, schools and churches. Places that typcially have been off limits under past administrations could now be fair game.
To be clear, I dont support illegal immigration. I believe there needs to be a more dignified way to come here and stay here. Also, sometimes some people may just not get in. But the mob mentality around the president elects speeches of throwing people out and rounding people up, imo, is not the way to go about it. It could turn ugly fast.
I haven’t said anything about rounding people up, and I don’t support Trump or his ideas. I said the wall is stupid. We need to change the system to incentivize doing things the way we want them done, and disincentivize what’s being done. And do it from both ends. It’ll make the employers make the choice to find their workers another way, and make the illegals make the choice to come legally. It’s fixing the system…not just treating the symptoms, which is all the mass deportations are.
Or we could just do it your way, and do nothing while we bitch about how messed up the system is.
