With everything else going on, I forgot about Joey Hobert. It’s not surprising to hear Rolo single him out. This kid was as incredible get for us. Possibly the biggest sleeper recruit in all of California. He has the potential to be an impact contributor as a true freshman.

He can play. He is a big time slot receiver prospect.

I totally wasn't focused on the guy. He reminds me of a player that went to oregon that I wish went to WSU (they were in the running). Put up mass numbers on both sides of the ball.....have to cajole that quietly as if not to alert the competition. The more players like that...the better off they'll be in the long run.

I know this is dangerous to bring up in today’s climate, but he’s a 5’ 10 Caucasian WR prospect. That affected his P5 recruitment, which was great for us. Leach covets kids like him. Comes from the same area as Kyle Sweet and River Cracraft.

Kid is a do everything baller. Set records at WR, was a great DB, was their punter and place kicker. Doesn’t have elite too end speed (11.2 100m), but exceptionally quick off the line and runs great routes. Those are things recruiting scouts overlook. If I were a coach, I’d make a point of recruiting a guy like this in every class. At worst, he’s your best special teams player. At best, he’a your most reliable WR. Down the line, I see him in the 2-deep at slot, returning punts, and excelling on ST.

I think I even like his dad. I have read a few interviews and he seems very level headed and a great dad. You can tell he loves his children. When Billy Joe was young, he got caught up in the culture of the uw. I think it was more the fault of Don James and the school. Billy Joe had to move the family out of Washington because he was the face of the uw corruption. There are a lot of uw idiots and Hobart was afraid for his family.

I hope Joey has a great career at WSU.

One of my SC buddies lives near him in OC. They're friends. Says he's a great guy.

I've got to echo Patrol re: recruiting one like him in every class.

And I meant to echo Biggs in another thread about recruiting 5 DB's in every class in the same way that Leach recruited 5 OL. The wide open passing game is no longer just the west coast. It is nation wide. And you can't survive without enough good DB's. We used to say that you needed a bunch of LB's, both for the D and for special teams. I think I'd change that statement to safeties today. And of course you couldn't be a real PAC D without good corners at any point in the past 30 years, so nothing new there.

Say what you want about Billy Joe and how he got caught up on everything that went on at the UW, and IMO was unfairly blamed for everything, sure he made some mistakes, but his issues were just a tip of the iceberg, the UW was out of control at the time. I will give Billy Joe a lot of credit for 2 things, one the guy was a fierce competitor, never gave up and always battled, Secondly, he has turned his life around, and he seems to have grown up to be a great father and husband, sounds simple, but many people don't succeed at that. Happy to have Joey on the team, and if he plays with the same fire his Dad did, he will be an outstanding player for WSU.

After a great scrimmage last week, I noticed Hobert's name was absent from the stats sheet of yesterday's scrimmage. I don't know if that means anything (was he held out for some reason?) or if he participated but just didn't have passes thrown his way, etc...

Same story for McIntosh. No carries or receptions? Or is Bazil getting his reps?
