I guess the Ernie experiment.....

Got good games from Johnson and Boese. Iroegbu had his moments but we still need better play from the point guard position. Clutch free throw shooting from Lacy. A good effort and nice win.

What a foolish post. Ernie kent is an experienced coach who has taken his team to an Elite Eight. To call him an "experiment iis showing a complete disregard to a fine coach who has proven himself thoughout the years. He may try to paint it as an experiment to see if he could still coac. But that is complete nonsense

I was thinking the same thing. That was a old fashioned Romar bitchslapping. From spreading the floor, to the Hawkinson in bounds play, Lo Ro was lost.

Experiment because Ernie may have shot his wad. And frankly, I thought Ermie was a recruiting coach. But then no one thought George could coach X's and O's until Guy went down, and we only got better.

Is Romar toast? A 4-game losing streak has natives restless.

Meanwhile, Moos's hiring of Kent so far is paying off. This team doesn't look anything like the team earlier this season.

I never thought it was an experiment.... Many others felt that he was too old, washed up, and hadn't coached for 4 long years. I guess he is proving all the naysayers wrong. That I am pleased with.... I agree, it was a "foolish" thought by many naysayers on the internet. Your overall post is lacking in depth and understanding of the ongoing discussion surrounding Ernie.

Go Cougs, Go EK!

There's still a lot of basketball to be played, but NO ONE thought WSU would be 2-1 in conference play right now. The same Einsteins who predicted Kent was a bad hire also predicted Tony Bennett would fail at Virginia. Enough said there.

No question, I don't expect an NCAA birth, but I am very pleased at how this team is playing. They are playing as a team and our PG's are really improving. Exciting stuff, crushing defeat for the p()()ches, crushing!

I knew what you meant. Ernie was a good hire for WSU. There were people that didn't like the hire. For some reason, there are a lot of people that don't like the quality experienced hires, but don't mind the true experiments. People like to complain. Kent is not old. I think it is possible that he has improved as a coach from sitting out, as he had time to evaluate what he did well and not so well.

I still expect the Cougars to finish near the bottom, but this team is trending in the right direction. What is happening should help recruiting as well.

Wow! what a great game by the Cougs and a great win for CEK ! I have to admit I expected nothing from this team and thought they would not win more than 3 PAC-12 wins. I never thought it would be from the lack of coaching, but the lack of talent. Coach Kent has taken this rag-tag bunch and has molded a team out of them! kudos to Kent!!! way to go Cougs!

I am enjoying the moment. What is really important is that The players believe in and are playing for their coach. Kent is making the right calls and the players are enjoying the game again. The man should be given his due. Heck even his recruiting roundly criticized is looking better by the moment. It is great to see enthusiasm back.I hope they can keep it up but the rest of the PAC 12 has noticed these road victories and will bring their best for the cougs.I hope that the student body gets involved as they may be able to make a difference in tough home games this year.

I hope the fans come out as well, as the atmosphere does help. You really can see a noticeable difference in this team. Basketball is fun once again.

The last few games have been building to a 180 from the last few years. We saw a confident and prepared team that was focused and enjoyed playing the game. It wasn't as if they played the perfect game but there were a lot of good performances today. Lacy settled down and didn't try to do too much. Iroegbu made good decisions and along with Que and Boese kept us in the game. There were points where they bogged down and had trouble finding good shots but they played as a team.

First 3 games on the road and they come out of it 2-1. Impressive start for conference and to build on the rest of year 1 under Kent.

Winning on the road in league games is a very positive indicator of a capable coach.

We knew the prior coach was not good, and we saw that with rare road wins.

I did not expect to be 2-1 at this point given how we've played up until now. Kudos to Kent and staff (and players). They are having fun and winning. Now watch the crowds come back to Beasley.

By the way, why didn't Bone try to develop Hawk more last season? His ability didn't change that much in one season. This is typical of Bone though.
