No way do coaches want this to continue.

And its not just schools like WSU, but not being able to plan ahead is driving everyone nuts.

If it’s good for Bama it’s good for everyone. There are plenty of schools that don’t give a shit.

Until the schools having a negative experience can hold sway over those that like having the ability to both dismiss the kids that don’t pan out and land the lions share of 4-5 star HS players …. nothing is changing.

College football is not a 4-5 year cycle any more. It is 2-3 years, tops. As soon as coaches realize this and make decisions accordingly they can move forward. There is no more developing over 3 or 4 seasons. It is playing or not playing. Being paid or not being paid.

That's the thing. Nick Saban doesn't like the portal or NIL either. He'll use it and abuse it, but he hates the pressure it puts on him to keep players happy. He's already said that players shouldn't be able to play right away or more correctly, he doesn't want the players that leave Alabama to play right away.

He loves it when it benefits him

There's a lot to fix, but who has the power and motivation to fix it?

Establishing rules for the portal, NIL, etc. is one logical reason for consolidation. The 'Bama's and SC's obviously don't want to have to play by the same set of rules as the "have nots". Never mind leveling the playing field help college athletics to explode over the last 40 or 50 years.

It's all one big cluster.
