I think the past week or so tells us a bit about Leach....

...in that, he can look at a situation objectively and actually does something about it, instead of making excuses:

1. 5 JC defensive commits (roughly 20% of our scholarships, more than any other pac-12 school).
Message: We need an influx of talent to be competitive next season. Solve the talent problem now as opposed to hoping someone develops.

2. Firing of DC.
Message: Defense wasn't working; poor player fundamentals at times; bad situational game planning; etc.

3. Promotion of coach Joe.
Message: If you work hard and do a good job (namely recruiting), you are an asset and you will be rewarded.

The criticism and moaning on this board has stopped. This is due to the excitement over the recruiting.I am looking forward to next year. i am waiting to see which QB emerges on top. I believe that we will finally see leach s offense in action next year.

Soundeds eerily familiar....

Three years in evaluate what is and isn't working. Get rid of coaches and bring new ones in. Put a little more emphasis on JC players. I hope enough of those JC players bridge the gap while the younger ones get experience and get better.

Of course, Moos didn't need to intervene this time around and no bowl game in year 2. But, sure.

Re: Soundeds eerily familiar....

I give Leach a bit of a pass.

Last year's defense was decent. Not bad enough to get a ton of JC kids to fill holes.

This year's defense was a surprising bust. We knew the corner position was young and thin. We thought the front 7 would be solid. Turns out, our 7 front was good at times, bad at times. Just too inconsistent.

Re: Soundeds eerily familiar....

A blind man can see that leach is bringing in way better recruits than the guy before. and more of them too. no doubt in my mind that Leach will get it done. I didn't feel that way about the other guy.

Re: Soundeds eerily familiar....

There really is no comparison. The lines, QBs and skill positions, depth across the board, recruits offer lists. We are in a position to win now.

Tron....Notice I responded to T-Town

And notice I didn't mention Wulff. But there is a greater point, and maybe it is my fault for not being succinct and let you go off on a wild ride. Leach while a special coach and hire, the two itejms which he mentioned are not what sets him apart from other coaches. He gave his hires enough time to see what they can do. One year is never enough time to assess a coach or staff. Two probably isn't either.

So what Leach did was not telling, head coaches fire coaches when they are not having the success they would like. Second, going heavier year four makes sense and happens all the time because the base has been set and now you are putting on the finishing touches. It is like getting the house built and buying the new furnishings. Makes no sense to put a new couch and TV in a home that hasn't been sheet rocked. The JC players are the TV and the couch.

arguably, he should have done this 3 years ago. The talent gap was even worse then.

But I digress.

I glad to see the talent come in; not so much as to compromise future classes, not too little to not make an impact.

Excited to see a much improved LB corp next year.
