I think we have found our QB

As you would expect there is a lot to like. Some nice deep balls with great anticipation and touch.

Let’s reel him in

I think there is about a 65% to 85% chance he commits to WSU, since Arkansas, his only other P5 offer, already has a QB.

25th best QB in country, high end 3 star.

Will probably be a great get by Rolo.

Rolo took him on a virtual tour of the campus today. Coley's mom tweeted out a thank you.

Lucas Coley is set to commit on May 5.

After losing McCarron who should have been a SLAM DUNK, easily closeable by Rolo, we'll see if Rolo can close this recruit who is nowhere near as close to being a Slam Dunk as McCarron should have been.

So we'll see.

But Rolo does need this recruit for the class.

If Rolo has this recruit, and the 1 4 star that signed during the early signing period, then Rolo might be able to get 1 of the top 10 to top 20 top 3 stars, top 4 stars in WA, and that could form the nucleus of a good class.

But if Rolo fails to either get this recruit, or another like this recruit or like McCarron, etc, then Rolo might struggle to get any 3 stars out of WA, let alone the top 10 to top 15 to top 20 3,4 stars in WA that would be the nucleus of a good class.

I know some would say dont need this years WA class, and to just recruit CA.

Problem is that because of Covid, CA recruits ate unlikely to goto WSU.

Because of that, this years WA recruiting class is needed.

And if that doesnt happen:

Potentiallly looking at a Paul Wulf, 1 star, 1.5 star, 2 star, 2.5 star, NR, whitworth, idaho, big sky, mountain west class.

So this recruit might be a necessary get to prevent getting a Paul Wulf class.

But we'll see what happens.

Kids are currently stuck with their parents 24/7 because of COVID. You had better believe there are some families intrigued with the idea of sending their son somewhere quiet for college. This might actually work to our favor with more kids eager to leave the nest than a typical year.

I can't imagine being 17 and being trapped at home with my parents. I'd need to get far away. Plus everyone is more familiar with technologies such as Zoom to keep the distance manageable.

Ok, good point, but another problem:

Rolo has said he is going to put a big focus on recruiting WA.

And to try to back that up he is trying to recruit Alexander, Tinua, Tinae, failed to recruit the Should have been Slam Dunk McCarron, only succeeded recruiting the 1, 4 star from WA that signed with WSU duringvthe early signing period.

If Rolo fails to get this QB, and continues trying to recruit the top 2.5 stars, 3 stars, 3.5 stars, 4 stars from WA, and doesnt recruit outside WA, WSU recruiting could get quite bleak, Paul Wulf like.

And semi ok, to semi good chance that Rolo keeps on trying to recruit WA this year, and doesnt recruit outside WA as much.

What Rolo is doing is either going to be a semi between some to most to almost ALL or Paul Wulf class NOTHING approach.

If Rolo gets 1,2,3 of the WA, top 10 to top 15 to top 20 m, semi top 3 star, 4 stars in WA, that can form the nucleus of a good class.

But if Rolo doesnt get that, and doesnt recruit outside WA as much, as there is a ok chance of, then Rolo would get stuck with a WA, Paul Wulf class of 1 stars, 1.5 stars, 2 stars, NR's, whitworth, idaho, big sky, mountain west players, from WA.

And if that were to happen, we would have to hope that Rolo like Tony Bennet, Price, etc, had the magic eye of getting Will Dertings, diamonds in rough, late bloomers, under the radar talent, etc.

And in this day and age, that is harder to be, do, then back when Price, Bennet, etc, were coaches.

And if thats the case, we could be looking at a pretty bleak, Paul Wulf like 1,2 classes, and a 3,4,5 year plan, where 1,2 years are 5 to 9 win years living off of Leach's roster, recruits, then a 3,4,5 year rebuild, of 4,5 wins a season, because of the 1,2 Paul Wulf classes that Rolo could end up stuck with, if he insist on recruiting WA, and not recruiting CA, etc, as much.

If Rolo wants to recruit WA as a PLAN A, he had better be recruiting CA, etc, A LOT, as a PLAN B, in case Rolo doesnt get anymore 3.4 stars from WA.

If he does that fine. A higher end 2.5 star, to lower end 3 star, from LA is the equivalent of a 3.5 star/4 star from WA anyways.

But we'll see what happens what Rolo does.

But there is reason to be a little tiny bit nervous about Rolo recruiting WA, after what has happened with not getting McCarron, and if Rolo doesnt get this QB.

The Arkansas rivals person thinks Coley will commit there. Not sure what her track record is, but I thought I'd pass it along. Weird to think we might lose out to a school already with a QB commit. We'll know for sure in under a week.

It's also worth noting Rolo hasn't been offering any new QB's so we obviously think we have a shot.

Six weeks into this togetherness thing, pretty sure my wife is ready to send me off for four years with periodic home visits.

Every recruiting expert I've seen has Coley committing to Arkansas. Seems like we are going to come up short here. Wonder who Rolo targets next as all but two of our QB targets have committed elsewhere.

Coronavirus doesn’t exist in Arkansas...that’s a no-brainer.

Coley pushed back his commitment date, a development which is undoubtedly positive for us..
