IB said he had "plans" after the season in a player-to-player interview with Michela Jones before the season. Not too surprising if he does leave but perhaps he has a path back if things don't go the way he thinks they will.

Best of luck to him wherever he lands. Pretty dramatic development over his 2 years.

He certainly has the option to come back. Don't know if the fact that he had his senior night Saturday before the Stanford game which his parents attended sheds any light or not.

Pretty sure he is ready to get paid to play, and no doubt that some opportunities will exist for him.

Sounds like he’s gone to me but also pretty cryptic so who knows.....

Unfinished business= Pac12 tournie?
Getting the Cougs back to the NCAA?

I know I’d sure love to see him come back.

He could definitely use another year to mature before the NBA, imho. I appreciate the "i have faith in me/my skills" mindset, but itd be nice if someone sat these kids down and was honest with them about their future.

Well maybe he is done with going to class and taking tests. He can easily make 6 figures in Europe. I'd like to see him come back, but he will graduate, I presume, and probably has decided to move with his life. So best of luck to Mr. Bonton, you were one of the players that started turning this program around, and making Cougar Basketball fun to watch again. So thank you Isaac for all you have done, and good luck to you in the future.

I'm thinking the unfinished business means there are still some games left on the schedule this year....and he's planning to be healthy enough to play in them. Sure would be nice to have him available for the conference tournament next week, if not sooner.

Other than that, I think he's not coming back next year.

Glad Cougar

I wasn't being selfish about what I said; if hes a senior and has no eligibility then so be it. I just feel like a ton of these kids get lured in by the big paycheck and sycophants who don't have their best interests in mind. The pros are unforgiving, and your window for making it for most players is pretty small, so the closer your game is to being NBA ready the better off you are. I hadn't considered overseas ball, though and he might be able to carve out a decent living in Europe/ China/ where ever.

Because he's a Coug, I simply want him to have the best chance of success going forward and not get Boobie'd by the likes of the Eric Dickerson's of the world.

I gotta' believe he's thinking NBA but that's just an assumption on my part. He's obviously confident in his ability and he's played at a high level in conference. He also just might be ready to move on. We think about how great it would be to get another year for athletes and forget how ready most of us were to "start life" after 4 years (maybe 5 or 6 for the smart ones). That's also without the grind of being a college athlete at a P5 school.

Different sport but on the football side Josh Watson decided to not come back and to become a fireman. Another year isn't for everyone. I have been hoping it is on the women's side with KL-W but I can see how it's not always a straightforward decisions for these "kids".

If he manages to get drafted, he is gone. The question is whether a team will consider him to be one of the top 60 from this year. Europe is another question...sure, he could get paid to play somewhere without problems, but most of the European guys who want the NBA seem to have to slog through the G league to get there. That whole process would typically take a lot longer than 1 more year of college. I suspect it will come down to whether he is drafted. If not, I'd give 50/50 odds that he returns, simply because another good season is probably his surest & quickest path to the NBA.

I don’t understand the thinking on this board that all these players are going to play in the NBA. Very few players are ever lucky enough to play in the league. About 4500 in 75 years.

Just to be clear I was saying what I believe Bonton thinks. I have no way of know that of course. Wherever he lands I wish him the best. That could still end up being in Pullman for next year. Time will tell.

I dont think all or most of us posters here, think that all or most of the players here are NBA players.

There are about 13, 14, 15 ish players on the roster.

In NORMAL, AVERAGE WSU Bball years, WSU is averaging 1 NBA Pro per 6 to 13 years, and 1 NBA PROSPECT, CANDIDATE(Whether they make NBA or not), per every about 3 to 6 to 9 years.

In a below average times, thats about 1 Pro per 12 to 24 to 36 years, and 1 Prospect per every 4 to 8 to 12 years.

In good times its about 1 Pro per every 3 to 6 to 9 years, and 1 Prospect, per every 1.5 years.

And in EXTREMELY good times its about 1 Pro about every 1.5 years, and 1,2 prospects per year.

Not every prospective NBA Pro is going to be drafted, undrafted FA, make the NBA, Pan out.

Also this team is not even your typical extremely good team, players, talent wise, recruit rankings, Pro Prospects, players, etc.

This is probably ON PAPER, the BEST, FUTURE, POTENTIAL NBA PROSPECT, NBA PLAYERS team in the ENTIRE HISTORY of, at WSU.

Now there are generally 2 types of NBA Pros, Prospects.

1. Those that are RAW, NBA freakishly athletic. These are drafted on POTENTIAL, and dont always pan out in the NBA. There are examples of players who have only put up 4 points per game, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block, 1 Assist, that got drafted in 1st round.

2. Those who not only have NBA Physique, athleticism, talent, but those who have put up AWESOMELY GREAT STATS vs GOOD P5 competition, consistently.

Examples: Klay Thompson, CJ, Michael Dickerson(Arizona), etc.

These type of players put up about 36 to 40 to 43 to 47 points in a game, and 16,17,18,19,20,21,22 points per game, etc.

A. There are 1 and dones, those that are that good after 1,2 years.

B. Those that take 2,3,4 years to develop, become that good.

Now going by that here is how the following WSU players compare.

Noah Williams:

In ONLY his SOPHMORE YEAR, he has scored 40 points in a game(which is hard enough to do even once, let alone twice like Noah has done so far). And that is more then a LOT of NBA pros have done while in college. And if they do that in college, its usually in SENIOR year, not SOPHMORE. And it was against STANFORD that WSU almost never ever beats, and which is one of the best teams in Pac 12, and therefore against good competition.

Also Noah Williams has NBA like Physique, Athleticism, Talent, to go along with PRODUCTION.

Noah Williams is Not only a future potential NBA prospect, but is likely a future NBA player, 1st round draft pick.

Even his Father Guy, a past NBA Pro thinks, knows that.

2. Isaac Bonton. Bonton has NBA Phsique, Arhleticism, body, frame, borderline NBA talent, Borderline production against good competition(Not saying he is not great. He is great, but borderline good enough to be a BORDERLINE Potential Future NBA prospect ON PAPER.

He will probably go between last pick of 1st round to last pick of 2nd Round, to SIGNED Undrafted Free Agent, G League, to Overseas Pro.

If he stays 1 more year, he might probably realize that potential, if he doesnt come back he might even probably wont accomplish his potential.

3. EFE Abogidi is EXTREMELY probably a future potential NBA Prospect, Pro, draftee.

He is not only 6 foot 10.5 inches tall, but is EXTREMELY NBA FREAKISHLY ATHLETIC, can jump, block shots, rebound vs the best.

He is RAW, but not as RAW as people think.

He has a Jump hook shot, a up and under, a spin move, a Hakeem like Dream Shake move, back to basket POST moves, BIG GREAT HANDS, receives passes into post well, passes out of post well. Blocks shots, Rebounds, scores, gets put backs, THUNDER DUNKS, POSTERIZES competition, can face up, beat man off dribble, and penetrate, drive, can shoot the 3 point shot well. Is 80% from freethrow line. Scores about 13 points per game. About 9 rebounds per game, 1,2,3. 3 pointers made per game, 1 assist per game, 1 block per game, 1 steal per game, takes 1 charge per game, plays good defense.

Against USC, the 17th team in country, EFE Scored about 10 to 13 points, 9 rebounds, helped Dischon Jackson shut down Mobley who is going to be the 1st pick of the 1st round of NBA Draft. Not only defensively limited Mobley but got all those points and rebounds vs Mobley.

Before EFE came to WSU he was at NBA Global Academy. His coach there was a NBA Pro, who said EFE was good enough to become a NBA Pro someday. If not for his injury after his JORDAN LIKE FREETHROW LINE DUNK VIDEO ON NBA OFFICIAL SITE, EFE would have been likely NBA G development league fastracked into the NBA.

Its obvious or should be obvious that EFE will be a NBA Pro SOMEDAY(BUT NOT NOW, NOT YET)

4. Dischon Jackson, AJ, Koulibaly, AT LEAST 1 or more of those 3 will be a future POTENTIAL NBA PROSPECT, player, etc.

A. Dischon Jackson:

1. HIGHLY ranked

2. 6 foot 11 in

3. Extremely NBA freakishly athletic, body, frame, etc.

4. Has a jump hook, up and under, spin, post moves, etc.

5. Blocks shots, Rebounds, steals, defends

6. When gets the minutes, gets about 8,9,10,11 points per game, WHEN IF he gets enough playing time. Gets about 8,9,10,11 rebounds per game.

7. Can face up, drive, receives passes, passes, dunks, shoots jumpers, etc.

8. Against #17 USC, and Top pick of NBA draft Mobley who guarded him man to man:

A. 17 points

B. 10 rebounds.

C. Shut down Mobley

D. Use to hold his own a LOT vs Mobley, beat Mobley a lot in AAU/Highschool competition.

Then there is AJ who turned down a PRO contract to play at WSU, and typically scores about 10 points in a game, 7,8,9 rebounds, etc, when, if he gets enough playing time, isnt injured.

Then there is Koulibaly who was the BEST Canadien player, And Smith says he is the teams best LOCKDOWN DEFENDER. Been oit all season due to injury.

This shows there is at least 2,3,4 FUTURE POTENTIAL NBA PROSPECTS.

BUT NOT ALL IN THE SAME YEAR.
IF they all make NBA it will probably be in different years.

WSU MAY NEVER EVER have this many FUTURE POTENTIAL NBA PROSPECTS again.

But there are still 10+ players on team that are NOT NBA PROSPECTS.

And nobody is saying they are all NBA Prospects.

You are misunderstanding or exxagerating and being illogical.

The rest of us are being very logical, reasonable, rational, factual, etc.

If you dont think Noah, Bonton, EFE arent POTENTIAL FUTURE POTENTIAL NBA PROSPECTS, then as Mr Spock would say:

You are ILLOGICAL

Im glad we got that cleared up.

1 every 6-13 years, 1 every 12-24 to 36 years in bad times, 1 every 1.5 years in good times.
Players who score 16,17,18,19,20,21,22 points per game.
Hard to argue with such precise rational thought.

Yeah and hard to argue with getting paid 4-5 times what a "typical" WSU student would by playing overseas. Making 300,000 often tax free while hooping is a pretty good deal. Just Ask Josh, Brock, Conor, Pollard, Marcus, and a whole bunch of others. Its not all about NBA.

Both Kelati and Rothchestie have at various times Been on a list of top oversees bball earners both over a million US dollars a year. Lots of money to be made outside the NBA. David Vik is a basketball legend in Portuguese basketball

Used to be there was only the NBA, CBA(A sort of minor league pro basketball league with teams in US and Canada(Tri City had a CBA team).

Now there is the NBA, CBA, NBA G league, development league, and Overseas(Overseas was back then as well, but now is higher paying, more prolific, more prominent, more opportunity, etc).

Also US graduated ex college players playing Overseas, has built, is building various Competitive OLYMPIC teams, Olympic Programs of various countries.

Thats part of why Overseas BBall pays as much as it does.

So more then just NBA out there.

Dwayne Scholten (not a top line pac 10 player) made a career overseas. I believe France.

I remember talking to a UI player who had spent a couple of years playing in Euro leagues. I expressed interest in various things he could have seen and was shocked when he told me he spent most of his time in hotel rooms. I suggested that making good money playing BB and seeing some of the great cities of the world seemed pretty appealing to me.
