People are now on the bandwagon to rip on the program in any possible..The quality of recruits is up this year and i am encouraged as a few of these players may turn out to be very good players As stated in another thread,the recruiting has changed. Many programs are looking for the best player or players available. Wichita state ended up with five players. They are scouring the jucos and perhaps under rated players to fill holes. But the theme here and more on the other board is to takes digs at the program
We did a good job of plugging a lot of holes with players that look like they have solid upside. Went above my expectations anyway with still one to give.
Well I don;t necessarily agree with your first sentence. That said, we have 5 young men who are now on the team and they deserve our support. We have a coach for at least another year or two and ripping him down further accomplishes nothing. So let's hope for the best. I'll save my negativity for next Spring, and hope it isn't warranted by the results.
I hope they able to contribute right away, history says it's pretty difficult for first year JC's. These three all had comparable stats to Kwinton Hinson and he struggled last year despite being far more physically developed than the incoming guys are.
I took a look at the past JC transfers since Dick Bennett was first hired. There were a total of 17 and 10 of them did not last two full years. The only real contributers in rough order were Varem, DJ Shelton, Ivory Clark, Callison,Clifford, and Aden. The jury is still out on Hinson but I suspect he will improve a lot.
I like the fact that Cannon has three years because it was a big factor in Shelton's success. Of course it mattered little for Langston and King who were probably both reaches anyway. I sense that Seltzer (mainly) may have a better feel for JC talent than the previous staff but that remains to be seen.
