If Leach accepts another coaching gig, either this year or in the future, what direction do you think we'll go with his replacement?

Hire from within? Hire another air-raid disciple? A group of 5 coach? An older P5 coach?

Im really hoping for Leach's sake that he stays at WSU. The Arkansas fan base is crawling with sub 80 iq goobers, and the administration make JR from Dallas, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker look wholesome and real.

Its a trap.

It’s going to be fascinating to follow. I think this is his last season in Pullman, personally.

I don't know, hes hitting recruiting hard. Harrells dad is a famous coach from Texas, and Harrell is going to be a very good coach, of course he knows the air raid backwards and forwards.

There are several jobs that are going to come open. Arkansas is one that should be avoided in my opinion. Washington State is a great fit for Coach Leach.

The direction we'll go...

He shouldn't. I think having his staff raided has taken 5 years off his coaching life. Id forget the indoor facility and use the funds to secure and protect the staff.

This is the most arrogant POS I've read in a long time. Why would anyone think Arkansas is "crawling with sub 80 iq goobers" than any other state/college fan base/alumni/etc? FU royhobbs2.
It's okay Suudy. I was born and lived the first part of my life in Izard County Arkansas...I've heard them all a hundred times. It's a stereotype that is deeply rooted in American culture. The education system and economic challenges of the area are well documented.
But I'll tell you this, the people there, my kin, are second to none when it comes to generosity and compassion.
It's best to keep ones mouth closed and let them think you a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

im talking about their fan base, not all Arkansans. I stand by my comment though-their fanbase are some of the dumbest goobers ive ever seen.

What is this infatuation with Harrell? How is he at recruiting? Can he bring in a good staff? He hasn't been coaching very long. Left Pullman very quickly. Lots of questions about him. I see Spurrier as a better choice.

many do you think Harrell can follow in Leach’s footsteps ? It’s like Klingsberry coaching at Texas Tech.

Leach’s value goes way beyond practice and game day coaching .

Leach will eventually leave and the show must go on. Can Harrell follow in his footsteps? Not sure. He’s young, so I wouldn’t write him off yet.

There are other candidates out there. We might not be a blue blood, but we pay in the top-35 now. We should be able to attract some decent applicants.

He's not going to leave anytime soon. But if we were pretending I'd be all over Norvell at Memphis. You saw the dropoff at ASU the moment he left. Really good offensive mind.

I get your point about the education system and economic challenges. I grew up in SC and GA until I was 14, and saw plenty of that. But I knew, and am FB friends with, plenty of folk that are average joes, just like those I met when I moved to WA and have met in the years since. I now live in ID and have heard the same slurs thrown at my goddaughter and niece. Indirectly, sure, but still that assumption that if you are from rural ID, you are a “sub 80 iq goober.”

In the elk camp I go to every year, I’m the only one with a college degree. Some never graduated HS. But every damn one of them are great people who love God, their families, work hard, and would sacrifice all for their loved ones. They may not have PhDs, or even GEDs, but the certainly are not “sub 80 iq goobers.” And it is pure elitism to presume the average rural folk are.

Leach isn’t going anywhere, the current openings don’t match his criteria. Plus all the coaching new hires are going younger. Changing jobs, starting over, rebuilding takes a lot of time and effort. There comes a time in life when a guy has to admit what he has is pretty damn good. There is no point in changing, and you realize I could leave my legacy here. If he stays 5 more years and goes to 5 more bowls they are naming buildings and stadiums after him. Is he there yet? Or does he have one more move with no legacy anywhere. I guess time will tell. But the longer he stays the harder it is to leave.

Staff turnover will always be a problem Money is not the only reason which causes young assistant coaches to leave Pullman.

So I've had a night to mull this over and I know I haven't been frequenting the site as much as I have in the past but... Have I missed something? Is there a bunch of articles out there (not just 1) projecting CML heading to Ark? What's the reason for starting this thread?

I'm not trying to shame or anything... Just wondering if this thread is a real news thing that I truly missed or if this is the normal WSU insecurity thing.

In two years his QB room will consist of
Cooper
Cruz
De Laura
Marchiol

In two years, it will be:

R.Sr: Bledsoe (walk-on)
R.Jr.: Cooper
R. So.: Cruz
Angelos (walk-on)
R. Fr: De Laura
Fr: Somedude

Frankly, although it didn't work out this year, I will not be shocked if Leach brings in another grad transfer QB if the right one is available. The best thing about Gordon playing (and playing well overall), is that our current QB's know that they aren't going to lose their job to some grad transfer just because they show up.

For the question about the Arkansas discussion, it's 99% WSU fan insecurity......1% legit concern.

No, just Coug fans having nothing better to do than scream "the sky is falling!!!"

I'm the person who started the thread, and no there isn't anything to it apart from the fact that Leach wanted the Tennessee job last year, and some drunken conversations I had in the Beasley lot last weekend.

Leach's name is going to appear in candidate lists every season for the foreseeable future, and again, given what almost transpired with Tennessee, I'm curious what WSU's next move will be. That was the only basis for the post, and it had to do with conjecture, not insecurity. I was a fan of WSU before Leach came to Pullman, and I'll be a fan after he leaves.

I’m not saying Leach will retire are WSU but the UT romance was 2 years ago when WSU was in AD limbo and UT was talking obscene amounts of money. Unless Leach secretly hates Pullman odds are he’s not going anywhere (at least this year).

If Arkansas offers Leach the job, it will be in the $6M-$7M/year range for 5 years.

Just for kicks, I typed in "Arkansas Leach" to see what "news" articles there are. Some dumbass wrote an article saying that WSU got pounded by Stanford, was last place in the conference, and that he didn't understand the appeal of Leach. High quality internet journalism all the way around.
