as the AD or coach you would have represent university of Arizona?

On Friday JDL will be one of the players answering questions from the press.

First question - so do you like raping young girls?

They obviously have thought this through (you would hope). My guess is he will say all the right things to try and put this behind him.

Yeah but the questions won’t be “how do you like your new receivers “ or “what area have you improved most in?”

It will be about his rape case .

They didn’t think through this cause he isn’t polished enough to handle it

He's been coached obviously. It'll be answers like," I've put that behind me, I'm only interested in taking questions about football and this season."

Again, I would think UA has thought this through.

Makes sense T-Town .... U of A wants this firmly in the rearview mirror by the time the season gets here. Whether that happens or not ... ???

ED, just guessing here... But for the TV portion of the interview, JdL will likely be questioned by fawning Pac-12 Network media analysts.

Can't imagine someone like Yogi Roth would dig into the matter. Maybe one "softball" question to elicit a canned quote and then move on to how the Wildcats are gonna surprise a lot of people in 2023.

JdL will deliver the same canned quote for whatever print media show up ... and that might be it as far as any exploration of the incident — at least until the season gets here (or maybe not even then)

You just want Biggs to say I support rapists again

Agree....Yogi will lob questions like, "you can from Washington State, played in the run and shoot, how much of a transition was it last year and how much more comfortable are you coming out the spring running this offense?"

Yogi isn't touching anything related to the situation other than maybe a chance for JDL to say he's grown and learned so much....etc.etc.

When UA decided that they had no choice but to keep JdL on the roster, it was obvious that they would have to publicly deal with this issue at some point. They kicked the can down the road at that time. Clearly they have decided that the media day is when they want to finally address it, rather than waiting until the season starts without saying/doing something publicly. Unless the administration is a group of morons, they have already lined up a friendly journalist (it could be Yogi, but there are many ways to handle the actual Q&A) to lob the first question in a manner most friendly to JdL and the university, and the reply has been scripted. Any really good PR firm could write the question and script the reply in such a way as to minimize as much as possible the long term fallout. And you can be sure that JdL will be in mea culpa mode in the response, not in denial mode. Because in our culture, forgiveness comes after acknowledgement of our sins. The lemonade attempt from the JdL lemons won't taste or smell good, but it is a necessary step for the university.

JDL is a punk And a poor excuse for a person. Glad he’s no longer a Coug. Wish he’d never been a Coug. He needs to be held to a higher degree of responsibility for the act he committed.

Indeed he is.

On a related note, Ward will be there representing WSU. With the news of JDL attending should he cancel his trip? Discuss…

If we want Ward there, he should be there. Our pick re: who attends need not care about or be sensitive to UA's steaming pile. We have our own smaller piles to worry about.

I'm really interested in this season. Every coaching staff in D1 has a bigger challenge than previously. The portal has added a lot of extra work and effort. Opportunities as well, but the extra work is obvious. How each staff deals with that will dictate their success. My quick nugget is that if the O line comes together, then we will have a good season...and the staff will deserve some kudos.

I really liked JDL when he was in Pullman and hoped for the best, but it's clear (to me) that his troubled past has negatively imprinted his character.

With that said, JDL's settlement was not an admission of guilt, so he likely won't be questioned about the case. Even if he is, he'll issue a "no comment" response. Both players involved in the case along with the alleged victim were underage when the situation occurred. The response from his lawyer below offers a legitimate point as to why they settled the case.

“I cannot in good conscience represent someone charged of a serious crime, at least accused, and let him go past their 18th birthday, go into big-boy court and take three years to finish the case and their college career is over,” Green told The Athletic. “I can’t do that. it’s just insane. Imagine getting a not guilty. Now he’s 24 years old. So we had the opportunity to end it immediately, and that’s what we did.”

Not just Ward, everyone else scheduled to attend too. Obviously.

And wasn't it JDL and Ward at the Manning Passing Academy?

Yeah. You must have missed the other thread on that. I was being a smart ass, no takers yet.

Dickert should probably cancel his trip too…and if ward goes, he should probably bench him for a game or 12.

I said this before. Pretty obvious JDL has been a troubled lad, made some poor choices, and poorly handled his departure from WSU. Sexual assaults are also very tricky to navigate and 99% of the time are a he said/she said scenario. I try to leave my opinions/emotions at the door with these and leave it up to the courts. Keep in mind I have a teenage daughter and my wife was a sexual assault victim when she was a child. And yes I would crush someone’s skull if they victimized my family as I would suspect anyone here would with their own.

I agree it’s an interesting look for AZ sending him to represent the team, but they must have reason to feel comfortable with that. Who knows. Wouldn’t be my pick though.

Would probably shoot him in the balls then right between the eyes. Maybe a couple of gut shots along the way.

What should the penalty be if women are proven to have lied about the allegations? Not implying that the gal involved in this case did that, as I know nothing about it, but we know it happens.

Not sure, but it won’t be bad enough

Yeah it's a tough one. I have never raped a woman in my life. I make sure I get consent all the way down the line, but yeah in my younger years, there were a lot of drunk encounters. Sorry Spongy, it's a long list. But some of these situations are drunk and hopefully consensual activities. We've seen quite a few cases where the girl has remorse and cries rape. And the guy gets fried. In JDL's case, from what I read it was not that way at all. But Goddam girl, why would you put yourself in that situation in the first place?

Edit - I see a lot of gals (like at my dog park) who are out there alone late and I just say I am not leaving until you do. "Oh I'm fine". No you are not.

My prediction is that Noah Fifita takes over QB game 7 vs. The Cougs in Pullman.

Arizona will be at best 3-3 & old Jedd will be needing a change-up to salvage his season.

I’d be surprised if #4 even makes the trip to Pullman. I can see him walking away again from the program after he’s benched.
