Oh boy. Let's get the bloodsucking leeches (lawyers) involved. Fun times. You ever had a leech clam onto you? I have. Those suckers suck hard and pulling them off is a bitch.
No I mean literally a leech, out of the creek. Those green bastards would glom onto you and start sucking until you yanked them off. You city slickers have no clue.
Another story - when I was young we would go out to shoot ground squirrels in the wheat fields. 6 pack in tow of course. Fun times. Little f-ers would pop their heads out and our .22s would take care of business.
My best story, which I know I've posted before, was out at the horse pasture out on Roundtop road (WSU land) before the golf course. Totally illegal, but me and my buddies were out there anyway hunting ground squirrels. I swear to this day I shot one of them running with my .22 Ruger pistol. Best shot of my life.

No doubt the attorneys are and will be involved.
Not only attorneys see an opportunity, but someday, there will be a movie or documentary made on the demise of the Pac-12.
I've also realized how essential, critical and imperative it is to have the right skillset for an executive leader, president, or chancellor to successfully negotiate a complex, once in a lifetime media deal.
Just because someone has a title, or your boss is at the top of the Org Chart, doesn't mean he has a natural or competency skillset at negotiating a complex media deal.

Great. So a P5 conference will reluctantly add us because of pressure applied and then find another, legal way to part ways with us downstream.

No. We should gladly take that afterthought of an invite and make those c-suckers come to Pullman and stick our foot up all of their arrogant asses for the next decade just like we have the last decade. Hell we are 4-4 and could easily be 6-2 against the Ducks the last 8, you think they aren’t happy AF they never have to see Pullman again? We take the money and merge with the MWC, we are the ones with the Target, and quite frankly, we’re going to have the same resources as everyone else, so there’s no reason to think that we will come in and be the conference bully.
Hell with the lawsuit, take what money we can get, merge the entire MWC into the Pac 12 (or now 18) and save the Pac 12, the automatic bid, until 2026 when the Big 10 and SEC claim they each deserve 4 teams, Big 12 wants 2. . As for the schools that left us, don't play them for a few years, make them travel somewhere further away, it's what they asked for.

My guess is there are very few generation Z members on this board. Not even many millenials. You're talking to late Boomers and Gen X here.
At least they've dropped the charade and are directly talking about the networks calling the shots... if this is to be believed.
Why would WSU continue to support ESPN in any way?

Because unfortunately it is TV money that keeps WSU athletics afloat, God knows fans don't contribute enough or buy enough season tickets, which is the case for most universities. As much as I share your dislike for ESPN, without them WSU athletics doesn't survive.
AS is Fox, the Big went to them last week and asked if the could bump; the share a bit for Oregon and Washington, they said yes. Big 12 did the same thing, it has ESPN an Fox, they had to call them to make a deal. The networks are running college football right now, and have been for a while. Someone inside the networks doesn't like us, or they have plans for another deal.

Actually, you can just blame Gen X. There aren't that many of us, Boomers blamed us for everything, and, well...we don't care.
If there’s anything here, would have to think the programs and networks “settle” (not sure if the right word in this case) and take the hit in lieu of bad publicity and a lawsuit dragging them through the mud.
Believe this is more of a bluff to help all four schools find a spot in P5. You do that, it probably goes away.
