Is it the putting in of the big guy or is it putting in Rapp? Or perhaps both. The 17-0 run was nice. Only really consistent player on the team is Noah. He works and works and his game is much better than it was last year. Nice move forward. AJ shows flashes but really isn't quite there yet.

the game seems to change in our favor whenever the big man enters

Or is it taking out Bonton. Went on a 17-0 run.

Rapp doesn't offer much. Vovo, while he has some weaknesses, changes things a great deal. His 3 blocks in the second half combined with a half dozen altered shots threw the Idaho offense into a total funk until they hit some threes late.

I disagree totally on Rapp. He feeds the post and slows down the game. The helter skelter aspects go away when he is running the show. Improves Wiliams and AJ.

Imo both Volvo and Rapp were instrumental in last nights win. The big guy is huge and that will throw off certain types of players as it did last night. Rapp doesn’t fill up the stat sheet but the pace of the game improved when he was in the game. Bonton is really struggling mostly because he tries to do to much. He has the skill but he just needs to slow down and let the game come to him. I could say it is him trying to replace CJ but really he was the same way last year. Very frustrating player for a coach to watch, one on three fast breaks is making me pull my hair out.
Aj showed some signs of the future potential last night. He is a skilled player but not especially athletic, he will have some big games as he developes and gets used to the speed of the game. We can only hope that happens before he’s off to the NBA...lol

Very much agree that Rapp is the kind of player whose value can't be seen in the box score. It can't be a mere coincidence that the Cougs went on that 17-0 run once Rapp replaced Bonton at the point....and give Vova credit during that stretch for neutralizing Idaho's "big man", who quite frankly gave Abogidi fits. It will be interesting to see if Bonton begins playing more minutes at the 2 guard or even if his minutes are reduced. IMO, we will still need him, the attention he receives from the opposition, and his explosiveness more often than not. But it was good to see that the team didn't need to defer to Bonton when it was imperative that they get it going on offense last night.

Glad Cougar

Vova' looked a lot more confident last night and whether it was just old eyes he seems to be moving better this year. He needs to figure out how to use his length better inside. I would like to see him able to go up and finish with a flush. He needs to use his size and strength to his advantage.

I like Rapp more than many. He may have grown out of the PG position but the mentality is still there. He's lost confidence shooting for whatever reason. He showed last year he's better.

Jakimovski started to look like his highlights last night. He's going to be a good one.

He's a coug and looks to be a great teammate, but man its hard for me to say I am fan of Rapp getting more minutes. I know stats are not everything, but he basically statistically non-existent. In averaging 15 minutes of play he averages 2 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0 ppg and 1 TO a game. I sometime see his potential, but often look slow and lost out there. One can hope his shots start falling and he gain more confidence as now his main positive is he doesn't try to do to much and has a distributors mentality. 15 minute a game seem plenty for him right now.

Bonton looked much more natural as the "2" guard, letting someone else set him up for his shot.
P.S.: I think we missed Kunc quite a bit last night. He has become a factor on offense, defense, and with his rebounding.

Agree with you Bogusto. Kunc is more of a stabilizing influence on this young team than I thought. With Miller also hurt, that left Bonton as the only other upper classmen. Pretty big factor, IMO.

Glad Cougar

We need both back soon. The announcers though Kunc’s injury wasn’t too serious. Miller’s obviously been out awhile.
