Who is the "you" in your statement?
The Church has consistently taught of the primacy of conscience.
CCC 1778 states that "man is obliged to follow faithfully what he knows to be just and right." Even the angelic doctor himself states that the conscience--even one in error--binds men (see
here).
But this is not arbitrary. There is an obligation to correctly form one's conscience. As
CCC 1783 says "Conscience must be informed and moral judgment enlightened. A well-formed conscience is upright and truthful." And one must make sincere attempts. Those who refuse to engage their conscience in the light of reason commit evil.
CCC 1791 says when a "man 'takes little trouble to find out what is true and good, or when conscience is by degrees almost blinded through the habit of committing sin.', In such cases, the person is culpable for the evil he commits."
Like anything in the world, there is nuance.
