Interesting

I won’t weigh in on the political nature of getting vaccinated or not because I believe it is irrelevant to my opinion. I just find it incredibly hypocritical that an employer is requiring it’s patrons to be vaccinated, yet the people who will be serving those patrons who said employer employs are not otherwise required. Just seems odd to me..
Don’t tell me I have to be vaccinated to fly to Hawaii then put me on a flight where the pilot and stewardesses aren’t required because you want to avoid legal issues. That’s horseshit.
My personal opinion is that this is bad press at a time when we don’t need it. Not sure how or why this came out, but I would have preferred he gave a good ole, “No comment”. Keep your vaccination status between you and those that need to know. If you feel like you need to share the information when the media, which is a political statement regardless to what others may think.. Then man up and tell them why..

He’s not going to be at media day in person. Something had to be announced, otherwise there would be more nonsense.

He couldn’t keep it quiet . He has to shown he was vaccinated. It isn’t just bad or, how do you go into a living room and sell your school ? Is he masking when on recruiting visits ?

My guess is WSU will make a decision at some point he is on administrative leave cashing a pay check . They honor his contract, simply tell him to sit it out . How about this scenario … he gives our starting qb covid …. And our qb gives it to the online . You can see how this is going to go .

You've got to be kidding. Tell that to private small business owners.
Seems simple… stem the flow of the virus and the small business owners should get back at it. Keep screwing around with the virus and you now have another variable into the success or failure of ones business .

Hahaha. You're funny.

I don't give one damn about what Mitch thinks or any other politician.

Noticed that you didn't answer my question. Shocking.

PS I bet you wear one of those cloth diapers on your face too. Follow the "science", right? Haha!
Imagine that. Another toddler disguised as an adult.

As previously stated, you’re overdue for thinning.

I’m no lawyer and I didn’t stay at a holiday inn express last night either but my hunch is any attorney not named Rudi would have no problem making WSU pay up for firing a coach who won’t get vaccinated. Coaches coached last year before it was available. Don’t get me wrong…complete jackass for not vaxxing but that’s another argument.

The “.Thbaks” says it all.
Not really … sort of like cofefee(sic). But yes you are correct shouldn’t post via my phone without readers on or multitasking here in Chelan ….

Ahh got it. One would think his personal attendance would be a condition of his employment. I guess my question or wonder would be whether their are any other pac12 coaches who did not attend. I would think if it is anything more than his own political views he should have stated such. No matter how you slice it, it becomes negative press without an explanation. Why have the requirement at all if the head coach can opt out for non-medical reasons.(not sure if that’s why just a guess).. I recognize it is a personal choice and again my opinion is not based on the legitimacy of the vaccine itself rather the stupidity of publicly encouraging and forcing players to get the vaccine and then allowing this non-sense with no explanation…

May I suggest that Rolovich be evaluated on the number of games he wins?

Agree, nobody mentioned insurance. Also, mandating it made it political.

I will not lie it is rather bizarre to me. He got to coach four games, one was canceled right before the start of the game. If anyone understands what covid will do to the season and the program it is him.

You missed the point. The fact this is making headlines is bad for the program. Doesn't matter if you're pro/against. WSU football hasn't had great major headlines since this coach has been at the helm.

If he wins football games no one gives a rip. So let's just hope he does that.

You get to determine who stays in business? Who's business is it?

This is publicity WSU did not need. The AD is trying to make it work, the President wants to fire him. I would assume there is a clause in the contract about “following university policy and guidelines”. So they can find reason to fire him, Rolo’s days as a D1 coach are probably over. So they battle that law suit, or the one from the parents of the student athlete that dies because the athletic department did not protect the student athletes Covid. Rolo can say no further comment, but this is just the beginning and a long way from being over.

Disappointed in Rolovich because I believe that it shows poor leadership but at the same time, it's not my place to force people to take the vaccine. I just wish that people understood that the consequences of COVID are statistically far worse than the vaccine and that their fear/stupidity/selfishness is going to kill and/or irreparably harm a lot of people.

I know three people that were killed by COVID, I know another couple that spent at least a week in the ICU from it. My office manager's wife recently told my wife that the doctors told her that if she had waited one more day to come into the hospital, she would have died. Even so, she now has heart valve issues that she didn't have before. As for the inevitable dumbass asking, "Did she have co-morbidities?", the answer is no, she was in amazing shape and health, swam and did Yoga everyday and still got her a$$ kicked by it.

I wish that the vaccines were 100% effective instead of 85-95% so that the only people with anything to worry about are the idiots like Rolovich. Instead, as a person who got the J&J vaccine, I still have a chance of catching it. As I said in a previous thread, my niece was vaccinated and got COVID at a dance camp in Mississippi after spending four days unmasked sweating and breathing hard with a bunch of anti-vaxxer college kids from the south. Fortunately, her symptoms thus far are mild, so that might be a victory in itself, but it sucks that hot spots of ignorance are going to allow COVID to ruin our fall and winter again.

But hey, they got to make a stand against the libtards and prove that 'Murica is truly the land of the free.....and often stupid.

The vaccines are being administered under an emergency use authorization. Not even the military can make people take it.

If WSU has a vax mandate for students, I dunno if they do or not…. Terminate his employment today. Tell the staff you will be vaxed or fired. Promote whoever is left.

Thanks for nothing Rolo.
This was pretty thoroughly researched. Employers can only mandate vaccination for employees in extremely limited circumstances, mostly in health care settings. WSU has to make allowance for employees who choose not to vaccinate, and cannot terminate if they don’t, regardless of his reason.

There could be an opportunity to terminate for failing to represent the university in a positive manner, or if he ends up sick and unable to coach, but they can’t do it for not being vaccinated.

I hope you're right, but there were still people mad at Coach Leach even after the incredible GameDay victory over the Ducks because of his Twitter link about Pres. Obama several months earlier.

Who is the toddler? It is you who is gripped by fear over a virus that has virtually zero chance of killing you and others (I am assuming you don't have diabetes and/or are under 70 years old).

Covid is going to be with us for years no matter how many people get the shot. Get used to it. Live your life.

Well...Obama was greater than Jesus, so we understand that anger.

And when he gets it and passes it on to a player? I understand where you are coming from.

This is for the lawyers to have a conversation with the university about exposure. That conversation will probably include “this is the amount you write a check for to him to leave. This is the amount you write a check for to a players parents if a kid gets sick and becomes a long hauler or dies. Choose.”

Im well aware of the percentages. Im well aware of my body, my choice.

This is best case versus worst case. How much will it cost the school? How much bad press can you handle?

Terminate him today and move on.

It is astonishing how fascistic some have become since March 2020, isn't it? Maybe they had those tendencies before though?

Rolo may have to resign over this. It wouldn't surprise me. We have a large segment of society that is so irrational, fearful,, and totalitarian about this supposed magic solution (the "vaccine") that they'll stop at nothing to impose this on all. This is worthy of some fear.

The things going on today significantly predate March 2020. Civility and decency has always ebbed and flowed but we are at least 30 years in on the current decline of it. Republicans and Democrats have spent three decades focusing on being sh!tty to each other rather than working together and the vaccine hysteria is the latest iteration.

I've never heard you comment in the same way about the flu. Should a flu shot be dictated by the state for all coaches to take?

Getting Covid is not a death sentence...in case you didn't know Ed.

Well...Obama was greater than Jesus, so we understand that anger.
I wasn't justifying or criticizing the opinions of the angry horde, just saying that anti-Leach anger and ridicule was out there.

Pretty sure other people saw that stuff, too.

Some of the radio talk shows in Portland and Seattle were actually calling for CML to be fired

How many people do you know that died from the flu in the past two years? I know three people that have died and two people that are suffering long term effects. So, while it isn't a death sentence for everyone, there are 600,000 people that aren't here because of COVID.

In time, once we've developed the same kind of natural resistance to COVID that we have with the flu (where 30% vaccine rate is enough to keep it in check), it will be a different conversation. Right now. It's tougher. As I said before, I wish the vaccines were "perfect" where I could just laugh at the people who choose to not get it. As it is, it's more complicated than that.

I understand. I was criticizing them though.

Now we have the Branch Covidian mob in significant numbers in our country who demand everyone get the jab even if it means using force to make them.

Fortunately their numbers are "only" ~30 percent of adult Americans.

Do you know how many of the 600K died with the virus as opposed to from the virus? The number is high. One detailed study of a California County showed it to be almost 25 percent. Anyway, we know that the virus is likely to kill only certain demographic groups. We know who those are. It ain't college kids and it ain't healthy people under age 70.

Why would you laugh at people who don't get the shot? Do you know how many people have died from the shot? I heard yesterday the number was currently about 12,000. That is not an insignificant number of people especially if this included those who were not in high risk groups.

I mean, what the hell is science right now? For 12 months we were told to believe the science. We were told to get vaccinated. Once we did, we were still in masks until June 30th. We have to wear masks on airplanes. They want kids in masks in at school still. People still want mask mandates. People believe in science until it’s inconvenient for them to continue to do so.
The problem hasn't been science. The science has been correct all along because science is a process towards an answer not necessarily THE answer. It's been an issue in how it has been communicated in an ever changing scenerio complicated by competing economic, personal rights and political forces all tugging at it. That's all I have to say about that.
