Is a damn good team. I’m fine with being upset about no NY6 but they will come out and smack us if we think they shouldn’t be on the field with us. Minnesota pt. 2. Also they have great fans so that will be cool too. Happy it’s in a dome.

Iowa State lost 3 close games to Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas, and Oklahoma State, all Bowl teams. Their other loss by 5 at TCU. They beat West Virginia and Oklahoma State.

The P12 was garbage this year. We’d better show up.

This is precisely why polls and playoff committee's can write the Pac 12 off. Even its own fans won't defend it. I'm fine with an argument that says the Pac-12 had no great teams but this hardly means it was garbage. The Pac-12 had a lot of good or above average teams.

And as a side note, the Iowa, Oklahoma and TCU loses were prior to switching to our true freshman quarterback. Purdy ended the year with a 7-1 record as the starter with the loss coming at Texas. He was far more effective than Kempt and Noland prior to him. I think he would have won the game at TCU for ISU but we still would have lost to Iowa and OU even with him. Regardless ISU has a top 30 or so defense nationally, an elite running back in David Montgomery and solid quarterback. Our weakness is our OL and special teams.

You gotta consider the source—Mr. Glass-is-99%-empty the other day was disappointed that Cougs were firing back at some dipsh!t huskee loser for talking shite on a Coug board, not to mention every time the Cougs were behind this year he was ready to fold up like a cheap suit. Defending the Cougs and the conference is not a trait I’ve seen exhibited there.

Looking forward to the game. I have a co-worker who played for the Cyclones a while back and it was a weekly joke. "Best 1-3 team in the nation!". "Best 2-3 team in the nation!" and so on. Cyclones will smack us in the nose and we'll have to see how our team feels about that.

What happened vs Drake?
20 mph wind, 30 degrees, wind chill of 15, rain then snow. Field turned into a jumbled mess. ISU's athleticism was completely negated as players were slip sliding everywhere. Drake player's seemed to adjust better or care more, not sure which. Just a mess of a game. With that said, Drake played with great effort and hustle and made plays, ISU did not. Nearly a disaster, but I do not think it was indicative of anything to come given the weather.

ISU has, I believe, 6 players injured right now and needs them back to slow down WSU. Sounds like most, if not all, should be back by then.

Hmmmmmm......sounds a lot like our Apple Cup game.

WTF did you see in the P12 championship game that suggests it’s a good league?

Who’s our best win against? Utah?
UWs best win? Us.
Utah’s? Stanford
Oregon’s? UW.
Stanford? Oregon.

The P12 was a deep conference this season, but none of the teams are elite. There isn’t one signature win by any of our teams.

Pac-12 needs to shut up critics by doing it on the field with head-to-head victories over other P-5 programs in non-conference & bowl games. It hasn't done a very good job of that the past couple of years. Some post-season wins may begin to change some opinions. With the exception of ASU, the other Pac-12 bowl teams will be playing against other Power 5 conference teams.

Glad Cougar

Great opportunity for former Cyclones head coach Jim Walden, former Cyclones OC Todd Sturdy, former volunteer Cyclones assistant Paul Wulff and former Cyclones GA Jody Sears and their DieHard supporters to openly root against WSU and Leach again.

Pac needs to win the marquee match ups with the other power 5 teams. Win those and know one remembers who won between us and iowa state for example. Win the games people are watching don't worry about the games know one is watching.

If WSU and ISU played an ag school rivalry every season, I would be 100% on board with it. WSU needs a good non conference rivalry game. I would even go so far as to put a John Deere tractor on the line each season.

Our AD budget can't afford that

I have farmland in Runnells. The trip could be a tax deduction

The Pac-12 this year is not trash. That's ridiculous. It has no elite teams and a lot of decent teams. But a few years ago the PAC-12 won almost all of its post season bowl games, were like something like 7-1 and even then the rest of the cf world didn't even notice. If the PAC-12 repeats the record I doubt it will matter much again. The voting in cf is so f-ing rigged.

Iowa State beat Oklahoma State. ISU was 1-3 to start the year, and then freshman QB Brock Purdy, who turned down Alabama, took over QB duties and they went 7-1 to finish out the year. The only loss was @Texas a few weeks ago. Thinking that ISU in the first 3 or 4 games is the same ISU as right now is essentially wrong. Completely different team, at least offensively, since Purdy took over the job and went 7-1. Before Purdy took over, ISU was averaging 17.5 points per game and 299.5 total yards per game. After he took over, ISU averaged 31.5 points per game in those 8 games and 388.75 yards per game (would be 414 if excluding the Texas loss which was a pretty bad game.

The Drake game was a fluke - a combination of players not caring and thinking they'd automatically win and also rain, snow, and sleet with 30-40 mph winds with a wind chill of 15 which tore up the field and made it hard to do any sort of cutting or get any sort of footing. Also a freshman QB who is from Arizona and has probably never played in rain in his life.

The P12 was weak this season. Come on man. Name one elite win this season? One elite team. If you were to seed the conference champions in the P5, where would you seed UW? Easy, #5. How about the top-2 teams in each P5 conference. Who does WSU or UW beat? Syracuse. Maybe Texas?

What happened vs Drake?

Iowa State beat tiny non-football scholarship school Drake by three points on Saturday. “Sometimes people outside of our program define us because we're non-scholarship,'' Drake coach Rick Fox said.

Idc about Iowa State.

We got them because of geography, not match up. Everyone in the fcking world assumed it would be #16 WVU, because IT FREAKING SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

Hmmmm, #16 ir #24/25... Tough choice.

Complete trap game too - beat them and it's "so what, you beat 8-4, barely in the polls Iowa State" (no offense to ISU, just stating the obvious narrative),

Lose and it's "see, you never deserved a NY6 because you just lost to 8-4 barely ranked ISU."

In the national narrative it's a lose-lose, but they knew that when they made the match up.

No, we got them because they finished ahead of West Virginia. Texas took the #1 seed since Oklahoma made the playoff.

In this case, I credit the system. Iowa State earned the higher seed.

Watched your guys several times this year. Montgomery is the real deal. I't be interesting to see how Tracy Claeys game plans to stop him. Should be a hell of a game.

Plus booze & great chow on the Riverwalk. Gotta keep the priorities straight.

Exactly. In his post he was both mad at the system screwing WSU in his mind by not getting them a NY6 game and not screwing ISU out of the bowl we earned.
I have seen no confirmation of Grier playing in the bowl game for WVU, but have seen several rumors he won't. Had Alamo picked #16 WVU and WSU faced a team without their star QB and won would that have gained more national respect than beating a full strength #24?

We'll get zero respect out of beating any 24, regardless.

East coast honks dont pay close enough attention to know any of those nuances.

You do realize that ISU gave WV a horrible smack down. We are going to have 30,000 fans drive 1,000 miles to see this game. In the 6 hours after the bowl announcement, ISU sold 4200 tickets. The Alamo Bowl had little choice, if they selected WV, no one would be there. ISU played Memphis last year in their own stadium, and actually out drew the home town team.

Ticket City, an online reseller, said this morning that the Alamo was their 5th best selling bowl yesterday, behind the Cotton, Orange, Rose, and Sugar.
