Is anyone more interested in WSU hoops with Coach Kent at the helm?

I say that as the hire was supposed to be to re-engage the fans into the program. Sorta like Leach.

The sale for me was Kent was a great recruiter at Oregon. He got some regarded kids to play for him.

Like any coach you have to give him time to build this thing.

Stating the obvious, a near last place predicted finish w/ not much early recruiting fanfare, aren't going to get the average fans excited.

I was glad to see Bone removed. I never liked the hire from day one.

I like Ernie Kent's energy and optimism. I also realize he was a safe hire.

I am very concerned that he will not be able to lift us out of the bottom of the conference. We need tough defensive teams and good talent. Can he deliver on that? I am doubtful, but I hope I'm wrong.

I'm interesting to see what he can do. I do think he has 2 very good X's and O's coaches and another coach that could be very good recruiter for us. I know this class doesn't seem sexy, but with basketball you start recruiting kids in like 9th grade so they are way behind with this kids. I'm gonna give him a few years to see how he can recruit to Pullman. Tinkle has a good class right now due to family, but waiting to see how he can recruit to Corvallis after that. And Robinson problem wasn't recruiting either, he just couldn't coach.

I'm doubtful EK will have any more success than Bone did. Both EK and CML both pulled flim flam contracts out of a desperate Bill Moos who needed to "energize" the Coug faithful in both football and basketball.

Not working too well so far is it.

So the former coach's supporters come out of the woodwork to try and torpedo Kent before he has coached a game. I think that the cougs finish above .500 which would be a miraculous season given the bonfire the former coach left behind.

Leach took a roster comprised mainly of Mid-major level talent, made it competitive against the Pac12 and took them to a bowl in year 2 of a major rebuild despite playing one of the nation's toughest schedules. This season is disappointing in the scoreboard results, but the deficit our football program has compared to the rest of the conference is still shrinking and that can bode well for us in the near future if certain changes are made in coaching personnel.

We have one of the best guards in the country on our team. Certainly not very many pieces around him, but this should be a somewhat competitive team with the middle of the conference. I don't expect a winning season, Kent gets a free pass to build, but this isn't football where a 4+ year rebuild is acceptable.

I couldn't be more interested to see what the new staff and new players can do and the old players can do under new leadership. However i'm always extremely excited for Cougar basketball at this time of year. I think most fans are! The problem usually lies closer to March for some.

I believe that for the cougs to be successful ,the players will all have to play within themselves and accept the roles given to them. Lacy has talent but he has to play for the team and not with one eye at playing at the next level. I look forward to this season and do expect a better team.

Bottom line, Kent has got to get a top in-state recruits to commit for him.

I can honestly see Romar getting canned after this season, which I think could bode well for Kent while things are in transition with that program.

You just said nothing.

I truly understand that your level of basketball comprehension is at the middle school level

El...even my 8 year old team would at least know that your post is in the

wrong place. See, if i your post doesn't follow the person who wrote the post directed at you , your post just comes across as a ramble. Maybe that is the affect you are looking for???

you honestly believe Lacy, when he takes the floor at the beginning of a game will be thinking about anything other than the game at hand?

*chuckle*

Ah now that the Heisman candidacy is no more, posters are flocking to the basketball board. That is a good sign for the basketball team. This should be entertaining fare as the Bone fans come on to state their case, whatever that may be.

I don't understand why you engage him. Leave him to himself and maybe he'll go away.

The fun basketball season has just begun. As i said,it will be a fun and currently unpredictable season.

I actually think EK has a greater probability of success than CML in a much shorter timeframe.

B-ball can turn around on 3, maybe 4 recruits.

I would say there's zero chance of Lorenzo getting fired after this season. Six years remaining on his contract at about $2 million per year. Also it won't hurt that he has a top five recruiting class lined up for next year.
