I don't know if Kent can ever dig out of this. There is no talent there. None.

Well i told you guys that there were only 4-5 D 1 players on the entire team. People thought i was just blasting the last coach.,But he was so bad and such a terrible recruiter that he dug a trench which is hard to get out of. Your man Hawk has improved to there he is scholarship worthy . He worked hard in the weight room and improved. However he has a ways to go before he is what people want him to be. Heck a guy like Donaldson made a player of himself. Perhaps Hawk can improve to where he is a solid PAC 12 player. Redding has promise and maybe Dunbar. They are young but no one else on the team is a capable point guard. .Kent needs to lose a couple of more scholarships. and bring in more players to i,prove this team next year.

Yes.

Bone killed it. Or I guess more accurately, Sterk hired the wrong guy (as I was sure of at the time) and he is responsible for killing it.

I don't even pay attention to when our next game is. Kent has a lot of work to do. I am not convinced he is going to get it done.

1. you WERE blasting the last coach

2. Last week, you were praising these players and how Kent had them turned around.

3. Kent knows what he needs to do and cutting Hankinson isn't one of his options.

hth.

Agree that Bone allowed this program to fall into total despair, but Kent doesn't seem to be rising to the challenge yet. Some people were quick to make fun of Oregon State when they lost their exhibition game to Western Oregon, but they have quickly become competitive, nearly beating Auburn the other night and staying within striking distance of Oklahoma State. IMO, Kent had more talent returning than Tinkle did (Tinkle had to add a couple of walkons just to have enough players and his leading returning scorer average about 4 ppg last year). There is no reason for the Cougars to be losing to UCSB or TCU by 30 or so points, despite the poor condition Bone left this program with. Maybe things will improve, but Kent hasn't done anything yet to make me optimistic. They are playing awful basketball right now. He hasn't signed any recruit that makes me go wow. Kent dropping a couple of scholarship players sounds good, but only if he can find better recruits than what he has brought in so far.

This program right now is irrelevant, and very few people are going to even pay attention to it.

Glad Cougar

I do not recall praising them. The new recruits have more promise than the players leftover. I remember saying that Ike was not a point guard. I remember saying that Boese and Hawk were not D 1 players. I remember saying that there were only 4-5 D 1 players on the team. I remember saying how bad a coach the Bone.... was. If you see i was blasting the last coach. Kent should have been brought in two years ago. Of course i want Kent to succeed ,so sometimes a n optimistic viewpoint is all the support one can give at one point. I wonder where all of the Boners are now that they are getting a good look at the players he recruited? He ripped the University off for good money and his supporters kept saying"one more year" Well the chickens have come home to roost and a few hens are laying eggs.

Only problem with this logic is that he hasn't brought in a single player yet who had an offer from anyone of note. Not a Pac-12 player in either of his two classes.

This is exactly why I said the OSU loss to W. Oregon meant nothing. The key is seeing improvement as the season progresses.

Oh, Elsie. You're back to spout words of wisdom. I sure hope you're done now. Done now are we? Please be done now. Now. Please.

What about your savior Cheatum? Im really not sure if he is better than James Hunter? I really don't see him improving enough to help in the next year, and then he is gone. Two years of wasted scholarship. The only one of the point guards that has shown me much of anything is Redding and I can't imagine how he made it through high school with that jump shot, it is ugly.

With all that being said, we need to realize Kent is trying to change the type of basketball we play. Quite simply he doesn't have the right type of players to do it right now. But given time I feel he will bring in the type he needs and we will improve. I doubt if all these freshmen are on the team next year but he had to get what he could and hope for the best. Next year doesn't look much better but the year after that will be the most telling as far as recruiting.

We would have a better record right now if coach Bone was still here. That is not saying Bone is a better coach or that it wasn't the right move to fire him and bring in Kent. Its only a reflection of the players being better suited to play Bone's style vs Kent's style.

BE PATIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
