I want to start this thread by saying that I believe these close have losses are due to youth an inexperienced, but I can’t believe for the life of me why we don’t run a play to get the ball inside more, especially during these scoring droughts. I love our guards. I just think the strength we have on most pac12 nights is inside. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but teams struggle with our size. Get the ball in there more and take pressure off of Noah and Bonton from needing to penetrate. Bugs don’t have to shoot, but it flattens the defense and opens up a lot of skips and kick outs for open looks. .Give teams something else to think about.. just my 2 cents.. thoughts?

We were crushing them in the paint, no doubt, had the lead at half time despite major shooting woes from outside, then we stopped. Frankly, very few teams/coaches these days are comfortable with running interior offense, including us, it just isn't done. We went back to what was comfortable, and paid for it. Pete Newall used to run a big man camp, where he taught how to play with your back to the basket, in "the day" it was a must for big men. I'd love to see our bigs run though that camp once or twice, and then have us go 6'10, 7'1" and 6'10" across the line and run an inside/out offense. Make teams adjust to us and old school offense, rather than us trying to win with the modern guard 3 pt line dominated offense that everyone plays. I can dream, but I dreamt of the Bennett's integrating Baynes' physically into the offense, beyond being a brick wall screen, but that never happen either.

It takes real guts as a coach to buck the tend, so few do. Leach did it early in his career, Schulenburger took us to unparalleled success with a style of soccer from the 1960s. Why not a return to a more 1970s basketball offense while we have the players to do it? It isn't like we would abandon the 3pt shot, but it would be the counter to collapsing defenses, not the primary goal and option.

It didn't help that Dishon twisted his ankle early in the second half and never returned. He's our best inside presence. No knock on Vova, but his hands aren't good enough to be receiving a lot of passes consistently. He's more likely to score off of offensive rebounds.

Glad, I think Vova plays soft. Coach needs to light a fire under him to be aggressive, own the paint and the ball. If he fouls out, so be it. Vova pussy foots around imo. No excuse for how poorly he holds onto the ball either.

You have to let guys cast off from 3 or you're going to lose the recruiting war. College mens bb has been headed this way for year and now this is the product you get. Infinitely frustrating considering we have one of the best freshmen bigs in the country.
