Just got a notice on my phone that we've offered Isaac Davis 2024 PF out of Idaho. There are some highlights out there but I couldn't figure out how to link them. Big boy.

Kid probably will be a near perfect 6-7 HYBRID, that can play all 3 of the 3 spot, 4 spot, 2 spot, from what I saw in the video.

He is semi Raw now, but by the time 2024 roles around he is a 3 star at worst, 3.5 star at average, and a low end 4 star at best.

He would be a good get for WSU, BYU, anyone else.

BYU is a threat to get him. Smith, WSU is trying to counter that by being one of the first to offer him, develop a relationship with him, and because combined with the points above, he is in WSU's semi back yard, and would probably be a good fit at WSU, have a lot of early playing time, and probably will develop better at WSU, and WSU/Smith will probably take him, others to either the NIT elite 8 or 2nd round/Sweet 16 of NCAA Tourny, and probably gives him a better chance at the NBA, then BYU, other places, because he might rot on bench at BYU, other places.

Smith is recruiting him the smart, right way.

I would put the chances, odds of the kid going to WSU at about 58 to 60 to 62% over BYU, other midmajor, etc, as long as doesn't get a Gonzaga offer, etc.

But then again, Smith/WSU has been beating out Duke's, Kentucky, etc, types for top 43 4,5 stars like Diongue.

Will be interesting to follow and see what happens.

He is probably a good kid, and good luck to him wherever he goes, unless it's UW vs WSU in a bball game.

Interesting comments in that thread. Comparison to Yoeli Childs (BYU) although a raw version at this point. Looks like a good prospect.

They offered another Idaho player recently as well. A 6'7" guard named Jackson “Big Rass” Rasmussen.

Really like how Smith/WSU is offering these 6-7 Hybrid 3 spot Wing, G/F players that can play the 2,3,4 spots.

The only slight downside to this recruit, from a bball perspective, is the possibility of him playing for 1 year before him serving a 2 year church mission, before him returning 2 years later to either WSU/BYU, and if goes to WSU, then returning to WSU instead of portalling to BYU, after he returns from his mission, if he serves a mission.

Mormon kid could be tough to beat out BYU. However, that's how they got Gueye. Got on him early and stuck with him even when he had injuries.

Yeah, going against BYU is a tough hill to climb for LDS athletes but good we have identified him early.

Could just be coincidence but suddenly we seem more active with players closer to home. Could just be some targets have appeared closer vs. further away at the moment.

Usually, closer to home players are not as good as further from home players, because WA, ID does not produce as many good players as So Cal other places.

There are exceptions to that rule. This recruit is a exception to that rule, and because the closer players are turning out to be good, better, semi best players as a exception to how things are normally, then Smith, WSU, are offering these semi local, closer players.

I'm a "between the lines" reader, and that's risky. Leads to conclusions that simply aren't there. It definitely could just mean these players happed to pop up and so we offered and nothing more.

I think there's also a Coeur d'Alene big that's pretty talented as well. Some good players in Idaho at the moment.

Not a chance in hell WSU beats BYU on a Mormon kid in Southern Idaho.

That’s Joseph Smith land. Utah on steroids.

It's all about PT.

Does the kid want to go to Disneyland and wait 4 hours for every ride and miss out of half of them, or would he be happier heading up to Magic Mountain and riding all the rides all day?
