Its hard to be a Cougar Fan...

For those, like me, who cut my WSU fandom teeth on Mobley, Childs, and the Palouse Posse, I have to admit I miss it. We have an explosive offense now. But I find defensive plays far more fun to watch. If we could swap Leach for Jimmy Lake, I might be all over it. o_O

Edit: Added emoji I intended in the original post.

It's only hard if you expect results that your talent level can't produce. It's hard to too consistently outpace your talent level every year. I think we've done pretty well with that recently. It's certainly frustrating losing games that are within reach, but bad/not very good teams do that often unfortunately

No offense, but your an idiot. I mean this in the kindest way. Leach takes 3 star players and puts out the most sustained good program that WSU has ever had.

The uw has 4 star players everywhere and this really is Pete Kwiatkowski's defense. They were a very good defense before Lake took on co-defensive coordinator duties. In fact, each year under Lake, they have been worse.

There is no way that I would chose Lake, who has never been a head coach, over one of the best coaches in the country.

We are a few breaks from 6-2 or 7-1. Defense has improved the last 3 games but it's obviously the weakness. Get to bowl eligible and that's still a successful season in my book.
I think losing Thompson before the season was HUGE. He was the leader and by far the best player on the defense, not to mention that he was one of the best in the entire conference.

Having Pelleur on the field last year helping people line up correctly was big. Thompson would have played the same role this year.

Um, no.

Drunk posting is always......always a bad idea. Leach is making WSU more relevant nationally than any coach that we've ever had. In a "down" year, we are projected to win our next three games and be sitting at 7-4 heading into the Apple Cup. We win the AC and our bowl game, and we are sitting at 9-4 with a 46-19 record in a five year span. Thinking that Jimmy Lake has a remote freakin' shot at replicating that is a symptom of extreme drunkiness. Don't be that guy.

Unfortunately, he already is that guy.

This season has been uneven, but the program under Leach has been awesome. Team played hard last night. Gotta beat Cal in 2 weeks.

Oh hell no. You’ll trade a coach that has won at Texas Tech and Wazzu for a unproven co-defensive coordinator? Leach gives us a punchers chance with the Air Raid. Lake will bring in a boring ass offense, that he couldn’t recruit to and a defensive style where he doesn’t have the athletes to run. We’ll be 3-9 to 4-8 regularly.

I swore I put the kooky eye roll emoji on that one. It was sarcasm to make fun of the Lake jokes that run rampant here.

The first season that I listened to every single game on the radio (Go Bob Rob!) was 1972. That year formed my expectations for the rest of my Coug fan life. Every game a track meet; offense over defense, and if we happen to have a D that can get a key stop, then we win; and many games will come down to the last possession.

Sure, we've had seasons that did not fit that narrative, but it is uncanny how often this could describe our season.

That’s what I assumed and was confused at 1990’s angry reply (and those that followed). Looks like you whooshed the whole board there.
I totally whiffed. I happy to eat my crow. Perhaps I should have to wear Husky gear to the AC as penance.

I bow down in apology to all the die hards. I screwed up. I beg your forgiveness.
