I've become concerned about this team

One game does not a season make, but...

We don't have a lot of shot creators. That is a concern.

Our defense is really failing us. Not naming anyone but we have guards who are not good defensive players even if they are good shooters.

Our bigs are not dynamic scorers and don't seem to move well with and without the ball. They are young, but I need to see more from them.

I also think we shouldn't be THAT hamstrung not having Noah and Bamba vs a team like Eastern. No disrespect meant to EWU. NW is important to our team to be sure, but I also have been hearing how deep a team we are. We didn't show that tonight. We need other guys to step up. We looked pathetic on offense and defense tonight

I am not panicking and know we will improve, but we have serious deficiencies in my view

The Pac12 appears weak overall, but when we play teams with better athletes we will struggle unless we fix these issues.

UCLA and Zona are easily at the top of the conference. USC will be up there in the top 5. Oregon looks bad, but their coach will get them playing much better as the season progresses.

Based on what I've seen, I think we will be a 6th or 7th place team and unfortunately will not make the dance.
SMith is a good coach, so I am hopeful.

What are your thoughts?

In the second half of the last 2 games, we've been outscored 76 - 106,

48 points to Eastern in the 2nd

58 to Winthrop

That is abysmal defense. Bennet D's on average were giving up those #'s in an entire game.

This is not even an NIT team at this point. Defense has been bad and offense relies on a couple players making 3s.

That was a quick switch to doomsday. A lot of changes on the team will always affect consistency. I am a slight bit concerned about defense simply because it is usually ahead of offense at this juncture in the season. Offense will come. I disagree that we don’t have playmakers. The guard crew is far better then years past. That however in my opinion is part of the offensive issues. Footing the new guards in will take some time.

Not all that concerned - young kids aren't mentally tough yet. And that's probably my biggest concern. But after getting taken to the woodshed a couple times, they generally adjust their mindset to view each game as a challenge.

EWU was a classic case of 'no worries, we go this' quickly turning to 'oh sh*t, we're in a ball game'.

That second half is worth watching if you can stomach it.

Provided the blue print that will be used down the line.

Smith coached horribly, simple fact.

My switch to doomsday? I think I have been cautiously optimistic.

The second half of the last 2 games have been atrocious. 106 combined, second half points given up.
