Jaguars vs Titans Game Thread (Minshew Watch)

maybe its time to rethink how the nfl rates qb's ?

last week GM outplated D Watson-former first round pick, now hes outplaying M Mariota former first round pick.

You know things like intelligence and accuracy, poise-might be relevant ? the running qb doesn't translate in the nfl, defenses are too fast and you will get broken in half.

The officials in this game sure seem flag happy. A couple questionable calls on both ends.
Minshew is 10/12 105 yds 2 tds. and leading the jags in rushing 3carries for 19 yards. 6.3 avg.
Miserable rainy conditons....at least it's not snowing :).

GM’s played well in the first half, but has been hurt by flags, weather, and a couple drops. 13-18 125 yds 2 TD’s.
Michael Irvin is very high on GM, whereas Steve Smith is his usual total jackass self.

I can't believe I have this level of interest in the NFL all of a sudden. I haven't been interested in years.

I'm sitting here pumping my fist after the Jags 4th down sack/stop on Marriota.

The Minshew mania is strong.

Same--although I do follow the Hawks some and check up on former Cougs around the league. But this year my interest/viewing time has increased. I even watched the MNF game when Falk went in for the Jets. No way would I have even cared about that game otherwise.

Heisman Duck 11-25 154 yds.
6th Round pick 16-22 180 yds. 2 TD’s (should be 3)
Scoreboard GM-17 MM-0 End of Q-3
Go Gardner!!! Go Cougs!!!

He's doing exceptionally well considering the Jags can't run the ball at all. Fournette was 6 carries for -9 yds at one point in the 3rd quarter.

Fournette looks like a trash slow back.
No joke, Minshew’s rushed for 18 yds, while Fournette’s has rushed 11 times for -8 yards.
Steve ‘punch my teammate’ Smith was trashin GM and was all about Fournette.
And Fournette just takes off for 69 yards.
What the hell do I know. Go GM!!! Go Cougs!!

14 carries for -3 before he broke that one. Not the mark of a good back. Between that and all the drops, this should be a blowout.

The Jag O-line's run blocking was poor to say the least. Most carries he was contacted behind the LOS. GM's numbers could have been really nice with a little threat of a running game. Not to mention a 3rd TD pass dropped cold even without a running game.

I love Minshew’s swag. He surely doesn’t look like a rookie quarterback. He makes good decisions and doesn’t seem to get rattled.

Nice post game interview with him and his dad. Doesn't hurt Wazzu at all either to have someone in the spot light. Hope he sustains it.

He and Falk have a rare chance as high round draft pick QBs to put some good tape out there. All it takes is show that you can protect the ball and manage the situation and you can cash checks for 10 years as a #2 QB in that league. Look at how many of them get recycled just because that one time they played well for a stretch when the starter went out. GM as long as he doesn't completely implode has already solidified a nice career going forward and should make it well past the pension cutoff I would think. Luke can move towards that with a steady performance against the Pats Sunday.
It's pretty exciting. I'm happy for both of them

Minshew doing all the work, team is blowing it.

D-lineman Campbell et al came up big to complement the early and late push Minshew and the offense produced. As Minshew aptly said in the postgame interview, it truly was a team effort.

As he said in his post-game interview, he's always taken the setbacks as challenges. No major offers out of high school; doubts along the way in general (see some WSU fans' "he's a product of a system" rants). The dude simply chooses to stay with his support system and his faith in himself. Seriously, it's all any of us has in life. It's easy to root for this guy, 11 wins in 2018 notwithstanding.

Impressive how he is going through his progressions and looks so comfortable in the pocket. Things really dont look too fast for him. He had 3 major League throws tonight that only the elite qbs could throw tonight. Suddenly I'm a huge Jags fan.

As a broncos fan it’s an easy move. In a league that’s becoming increasingly difficult to watch, Minshew makes it fun. Go Jags.

That clip is vintage Leach. Minshew will have a home in the league for years because the game isn't too fast for him, he's a leader, and he's got enough in the measureables to get by. His field vision is outstanding. Yrah yeah can't coach a rocket arm blah blah. You can't coach that kind of improvisational ability either. Guys have it or they don't, and it's a more important trait in a QB than raw velocity once you hit the minimum threshold.
