He is listed as a 7'1 250 center from Mesa Jr College in Arizona. The staff must know something everyone else does not. Stats show him averaging 3.8pts,3.2 rbs per 8.4 minutes of play last year. He also had a total of 11 blocks for the year.Verbal commits show the cougs offered. The reorganized staff is busy working

I realize you can't teach 7'1 but the state line (combined with the lack of offers) aren't inspiring.

If it is true, then i also have a hard time understanding this one. I cannot find any videos on this guy even high school. He was listed as 6'11 -210 in high school, now listed as 7'1 240 . Perhaps he is a very late bloomer? There are no other offers as far as i can see.Perhaps ,he is a full qualifier and can reclassify to 2018?

We ignore a 7-4 guy who is just down the road for this guy. That is hard to believe.

Not sure it is a case of ignoring Sorn. From discussions on this forum it sounds like he is an intelligent squared away kid who doesn't want to dedicate himself to hoops at a level D-1 coaches want

Still no film clips on Hampshire. Photos show a tall fairly muscular player. I guess they are recruiting on potential and willingness to work hard?A couple of blurbs talk about good footwork and touch. He has been invited to the JA 32 Showcase Tournament at Eastern Florida on July 11-13 2018. I guess many college coaches will see what WSU has seen in this young man.I still wonder if he is a full qualifier?

Hampshire isn't on the Casper College roster. Apparently we have interest in a Casper College Octavion Corley (6’11, C, 2018). Pretty raw from the looks of it. Averaged 9.8 points/4.5 rebounds in about 13 minutes per game.

Every tweet about him says Casper and he's not on the Mesa JC roster last year. The mystery man. His stats are nonexistent so maybe it makes sense.

I l just looked at the roster for Mesa and he was on the 2016-2017 roster, There is a team photo with him in it So maybe he sat out or transferred to Casper last year? If so,he may be eligible for this cycle?

Evidently ,he played one season at Mesa. Then,he" redshirted" one year ar Casper. Casper had two centers who sheared playing time. They both will get D1 scholarships. The cougs looked at Octavion Corley but did not offer. It is interesting that they offered Hampshire who "redshirted" If he made passing grades ,he should be able to reclassify to 2018,if i am correct? He would then have 3 years to play 3 years if he came to WSU in 2018.

I don't know if I've ever heard of a player redshirting in JC unless he was injured. I'd sure like to see him put up some good numbers in JC before offering him a scholarship. Under 4 points and 3 rebounds a game isn't good enough and reminds me of those Paul Graham recruits from JC that were way over their heads in Pac-12 play.

Glad Cougar

If the cougs have offered Hampshire,i rather he come in as a soph and play three years. If they feel he has potential that would give him three years to work on his game.

I don't remember whether Shelton moved to another JC, sat a year, and transferred before he played at WSU though. Spending a year sitting at a JC isn't something I remember seeing before. At least Octavion Corley has some stats although he doesn't look like much of an instant contributor either.

I dont know if Shelton switched, but he had 3 to play 3 at WSU, and I seem to remember he sat out a year while attaining AA degree.

Hampshire is listed as 2019 making him a 2-to-play-2. No idea if he needs his AA. They could have just seen him when they were looking at Corley but on the surface it's a bit of a head scratcher of an offer.

I agree ,i have not seen any tapes of him and maybe he has drastically improved. He was listed at 6'11-210 coming out of high school. He is now 7'1 250, and that is a big growth spurt. Maybe,he is a true sleeper? He played sparingly at Mesa but did have a game with 12 pts and 9 rbs in a big win.He looks like a strong player and perhaps he runs the court very well? There are a lot of questions regarding this player. Kent seems to like to go to team practices. He went to a Sorn practice, and i remember,he did go see Corley at his school. Thus he probably saw Hampshire in practice.

in other news Phillip Pepple a 6'9 235 from Seattle is going to Casper . He averaged 22 pts and 11 rbs per game with no major offers. He obviously had grade problems which kept major schools away. Perhaps in two years?
