I think the game is at 6:30, but I have to make sure. St. Louis HS is playing St Thomas Aquinas from Florida. Should be a high level hs football game. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 I believe.

Thanks for the heads up. Will watch/record for sure.

After De Laura fumbled the first play of the game he's gone 8-10 for 92 yards and 2 TDs. Throws a nice tight spiral.

This kid is a winner. Leach has always maintained that accuracy is the most important trait when evaluating a QB, and I agree.

Love the ball de Laura throws. Plays with a ton of confidence.

If someone mentioned this I’m sorry. I skipped the comments since I’m early in the first quarter. With 11:15 on the clock De Laura’s hand is pointing to the left and he’s wearing a Coug glove. Something silly but kinda cool.

De Laura is a stud. That St Thomas Aquinas defense is just loaded. He throws a great ball with lots of pace and has a quick release. Great feet. Forced some throws when trying to make plays for his team. Had to remind myself a couple times that it was a hs game and not a college game. Either one of those teams would beat any WA hs team by 30+.

I’ll be curios to see what the reactions are if any of you watched the game. Kid’s fast, tough, good arm. He’s definitely a kid, though. Threw a coupe of first half TDs to go with three picks (should have been at least four) and the early fumble.

Seems like a lot of talent to work with. But don’t see him touching the field for a few years. At least his junior year. I’m excited to see how he develops, though. Sacks shouldn’t be an issue... kid is fast and gets away.

I didn’t watch last night but for thoughts of him coming in and starting as a true freshman, remember Gesser struggled mightily out off the gate. I think Gesser is a fair comparison considering his size, athletic ability, and roots. D1 is a different beast and he will probably be served well learning for a couple years. When Gesser came in we didn’t have the novelty of a couple of really talented guys already there either like we do now.

I did watch a lot of the game last night. As good as the Florida HS team is, De Laura got a pretty good glimpse at what D-1 football is like. I was amazed how many players on both teams have signed with D-1 programs, particularly very good programs. De Laura looked very promising to me and made a lot of very impressive, accurate throws. I only saw one of the interceptions and missed most of the second half, so my assessment is based on a smaller sample size. He's definitely aggressive and has a lot of confidence. Wish he was a bit bigger (taller) but the comparison to Gesser is a good one.

Glad Cougar

Much farther along than Gesser was as a hs prospect. Delaura has a much stronger arm. Being in the style of offense he has played in will help prepare him for the air raid. He has thrown a lot of passes in hs. He is a little shorter than I thought. Needs to put on some weight too. Gonna be really good.

I’m excited to see what Koali Nishigaya can do. I see a little Harrington and Borghi when he touches the ball. I see him being a playmaker out of the backfield. Maybe right away depending on our depth.

He could also make a run at the more traditional “Welker” role as he has that pass catching ability

STA is one of the premier programs in the nation. I would wager literally almost every P5 team sends a coach there.

They mentioned last night that STA has more active D1 scholarship alumni and more active NFL alumni that any other high school.

Shorter than Gesser, slower release, tends to over throw the ball like Brink when stationary, physically more stout than Gesser. If Leach is thinking about adding dual threat to the air raid, which would be welcome in my book, this kid fits the bill and could take the O to new levels. As a pure air raid pocket passer, i just don't see it unless he develops a more varied and crafty passing game like Gesser and Minshew.

After holding the clip board and studying the air rair for a couple of years, there is no reason this kid cant learn to go through his reads and run the air raid like every other Leach qb. It is mental first, then comes accuracy, arm strength, pocket presence and escapability etc...

Extrapolating a HS qb in a different offense after one game isnt really applicable imo.

Leach's specialty is identifying qbs who can run his offense, if he selected this kid based on what he sees, I think the kid will be able to run the offense.

There is enough talent in FL for every college team there to win 10 games per year. If you win less than 10 you screwed it up.

His arm is already stronger than Gesser’s. Much better athlete too.

The last time Leach signed a qb this good it was Graham Harrell a 3 year starter and probably Leach's best qb (other than Minshew).

Jaydens legs make him a real threat, id guess leach will tweak the offense a little to exploit his mobility.
