Jeff Tedford and the bear raid

Funny how ones own biases alter realities.

Fresno QB threw it 31 Times last night in snow

Gardner threw it 35 Times in Apple Cup

Totally different kind of conditions. Boise snow was closer your normal high desert pow -a little on the wet side but their weather systems come up through Nevada and is totally different than coming down from Canada/W. Washington . That crap that came down during Apple Cup was straight Cascade crud. Slushy, heavy, wet.

Regardless, the dawgs came out excited and hunting heads despite the conditions. Cougs came out tentative and got controlled in terms of excitement and physicality. Weather was a factor but not THE factor.

I may offer a slightly different version of reality. How many total plays were run. The UW played keep away. They punted once if I recall correctly . If they didn’t have a seven minute drive we may have passed more.

Since I didn’t see the Boise game other than the last five minutes , I can’t tell you for sure if your stats are meaningful or if they are misleading as stats can be .

I thought the Boise game conditions were identical to what we saw in the Apple Cup. Was raining at kickoff and turned to a wet slush.

Can't believe I'm going to do this, but yes Ed is right those stats are out of context. FSU ran it 32 times as well.

Oh come’on. Just admit you took a shot at Leach. You stated this thread at 6:46pm.

That’s somewhere in the 1st Half in Boise.

Fresno QB in 1st Half was 7-of-11 96yds
Fresno was 13 for 51yds Rushing

So they ran it 20 more times and passed it 19 more in the second half. Whats the point beside i was right that they used the run to great effect.

And of course Im critical of leach, getting caught with your pants down like that isn't acceptable for a coach and team of this caliber.

I don’t remember Jeff Tedford running the Air Raid at Cal - but Sunny Dykes who followed Tedford definitely did.

The whole premise of this thread is misplaced. Tedford never was, never has been, a air raid disciple. He is known for a balanced attack run out of the spread, with a complex signal system, like Mike Price. He traditionally has had a feature back like Forsett, JJ Arrington, Marshawn Lynch and Best ect. Example, Arrington ran for 2000 yards in 2005 !!!. And not handing off to Marshawn Lynch would be be like committing football malpractice. FSU became a passing team this year purely out of necessity.
