Disappeared into the ether for awhile but finally straightened things out. Lost my credit card and was unable to update the new info. The more I tried the worse it got. Been working in the sciences all my life but learned my math on a wooden slide rule. These new fangled computer gizmos are beyond me. Tried to start a new poster name but that failed miserably and my old account, kayak15, was "locked" for some reason. Anyway, whether you like it or not, I'm back.

As long as I am here I will unburden my brain of some thoughts that I was unable to post previously.

Recruiting: (A) Treat the instate kids the same as the out of state kids. Put out some feelers and if there is any interest, follow up. If not, move on. (B) And this is the primary point of this portion of my thought, Rolo and staff need to recruit the mentors, coaches, principals, teachers and others connected to the potential recruit. We, WSU, are not chopped liver. I, and I am sure most of you, received a fine education in Pullman. The Murrow School, Ag/viniculture/vet schools, engineering and others are top notch. Despite the AC failures we are all aware of, we compete quite well with the ewe in basketball, soccer, volleyball and other sports. With the obvious exception of the AC, we have held our own with our cross-state rival in football as well. This "little brother" inferiority complex that pervades the state needs to be dealt with. WSU has its virtues and this needs to be made clear to HS staffs in the state. Leach, for all of his talents, realized the problem but never seemed to do anything much to correct the misperception. He just moved on to other states. If only 10%, or maybe 20%, of the state's recruits will give us the time of day then we are perpetually screwed. Recruit the mentors, Rolo, until 30,40, 50 percent of the kids give us a fair shot. Email them and when recruiting is in a dead space, visit those mentors and establish a personal connection. Widen the size of our influence.

No, I do not foresee football this Fall. Maybe a shortened season in the Spring. My season ticket money is probably destined to become a donation. I am closing on 76 years of age and with Type II diabetes and with other bodily functions whose warrantees have expired, I doubt that I will be comfortable attending any large gatherings for awhile.

Reasonably content with Rolo's recruiting so far. He started the season with one arm tied behind his back as he was the new kid on the block. The coronavirus pandemic tied another arm down as he and staff have been unable to establish relations with kids or their mentors. Is it just me or does the staff have some secret poly or two verbally committed in some obscure part of the Pacific? My gut says yes but what do I know. Perhaps the crimson glasses are leading me astray again.

Hey, Scott, how about following up on those who fail to resubscribe? Maybe they cannot afford it at this time or some other reason or perhaps they are just old computer illiterate geezers who are unable to do it for some reason.

Nice to be back and, as always, Go Cougs.

Nice to hear from you Kayak

Nice to hear from you too, Kurt. Doesn't look like we will be seeing our ladies play any soccer this year unless they reschedule into the Springtime. Too bad as I was looking forward to seeing how Kowalchuk (sp?) and the young Rodman girl developed.
