Really nice start against SC. Up 41-22 w/ 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Shooting 8-18 so far from 3.
SC was the aggressor. There were some calls that made you shake your head though. SC's kicks the ball into the backcourt and no call at the end of regulation. SC's Littleton flops in OT on a Bella shot and they call Bella for a foul.
SC is a really good defensive team, but they got some calls. We didn't do nearly a good enough job against their press. We still had our chances, but we struggled to score in the 2nd half and OT. I knew SC was going to make a run. We didn't handle it.
Bottomline, I don't see it as a choke. It's tough to get road wins against good teams and we need to do a better job of handling when the other team is in desperation mode and the officials are letting them be physical.

Honestly, for the definition of choke, I do think it was one. With a 19-point lead with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, they should have been able to finish the game. I didn't watch much of the game. But the few times I watched were when Wallack fouled Bigby on a desperation three with the shot clock at zero at the end of the 3rd quarter. Then, I saw back-to-back possessions in the 4th quarter where the Cougs had shot clock violations.
I think the short bench hurt the team. Still, this has been a great season and even the best of teams lays an egg every once in a while. The team will forget about this and get ready for Cal.
Um, we call that Couging it......and I don't want to hear any shit about not using the term.
On one of those shot clock violations, CL-W is driving for what would have been a desperation long shot. She gets pushed and falls to the ground. The official first signals the foul (contact was before the horn) then calls the violation. SC deserved to win this game, but those calls that SC was getting and we were not started to add up.
SC doesn't need help and I'm clearly biased, but felt like they got some today.
I would love to see the Cougars play them in the P12 tournament and win. That would be the best revenge of all.
SC's been a difficult for us to crack. They have been a tougher matchup for us than UCLA or Arizona. This year it's their combination of length and athleticism that's really got to us. There was a period in the 3rd quarter where I think we went 1-4 on 3s with the 3 misses all rimming out on us. It kept them in contact in the 3rd quarter. We did not attack the press. I think we left a lot of potential points off the board that ended up in empty possessions.
We get Utah again if we can get pass a pretty scrappy ASU team. SC would need to get pass CU for a rematch. Would love to see it as well.
Certainly not more than usc had today . People run zones to make another team beat you from outside. And if usc could get the mid range 15 footer to drop in the bubble , then they deserve to win .

I've learned in my life that you need to own things, particularly your shortfalls and mistakes. Starting with the The Cougs Couging it in the 1975 Apple Cup. I watched the basketball team Coug a 10 point lead with a minute to go against Arizona. The 2013 bowl game. Classic Couging it.
Own it. Much as I love my Cougs, have financially supported them and have a goddam closet full of Coug (and Wazzu) gear, we tend to Coug it. F-ing own and accept it. And we can make fun of it. This BS that it some sort of forbidden term is a joke. It's in the dictionary for Gawdsakes. Google it.
I was working at WSU when they tried to basically ban the term "Wazzu". F-ing ridiculous, led by Lane Rawlins and our then Marketing AVP. Not a Coug by the way. What a freaking joke. Thankfully when Floyd came from "Mizzou" he put an end to that BS.

Well, I grew up in Indiana where zone was the work of the devil...but I will concede if done properly it can work.
Syracuse has made some deep runs in the tourney with some of their better versions of the 2-3. Can't remember what year it was(In the last 12) but one of their lesser talented teams had a nasty 2-3 that year that caused fitsi n the tourney.
I didn't see the game. Only listened on radio, but not opposed to giving it a try in certain situations much like situational option in the air raid.
Its a mute point if we shoot better from the stripe in our limited attempts.

I have literally been a Coug my entire life and know what that $*** phrase means. It means you don’t have a clue how difficult it is for us to win with all our built in challenges. First win for the women in Pauly ever this week.
That phrase is about the 75 Apple Cup which you brought up. It’s a team that going into the game on paper has no business being competitive but is winning late in the game only to end up losing in spectacular fashion. It’s become your ridiculous mutt definition. Basically any time we lead a game and end up losing.
We definitely belong with SC. We had a lead and lost it. You sound like a mutt. Yes, I’m still a bit salty we weren’t able to get this win. Did you even watch the game?

Yeah, it's bad enough when Husky fans, Duck fans, Beaver fans come up within 6 inches of your face after a tough loss and yell "....you Couged it again!", which has happened to me multiple times in my 50+ years of being a Cougar fan. But to have your own WSU folks using the term makes it seem like they are on the same side as Husky, Duck, and Beaver fans. I don't mind being critical and upset with the Cougs after a loss, but using that term is something I avoid doing and it brings out a negative reaction in me when other fellow Cougs use it.

And I am no stranger to mutts getting in my face. That's why I was dumb enough to leave the 20.......? Apple Cup when we were down 28-10 and mutts behind us were just screaming shit at us. I did not want to end up in jail or the hospital or both, so we left.
Or the Apple Cup in 2...? - the miraculous comeback at the very end with Karstetter and shit I don't remember the QB. Gotta quit drinking so much. Anyway, we left that one too, and were walking to our then-RV and some Husky punk was in the lot heckling Coug fans walking by. I turned away once, then twice, but when my then wife told me to come along and the punk said "listen to your woman", I grabbed him and put him down hard. His pals dragged me off of him, but not before his GF apparently kicked me in the ribs. Didn't feel it at the time, but it sure hurt the next week when the doc told me one was broken. I think I've shared this story before on this board.
After we tied the game, I did have time to sprint back to Martin to watch the game winning FG.
So no more "C-ing it" references. Promise.
