News this morning is that the “university is investigating.”
Any bets on whether the outcome will be tied directly to what happens over their next 3 games?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the conference also comes out with something over Lake’s contact with an official who was between him and the player.
Honestly, I’m just old enough that I don’t have a real issue with smacking a helmeted player on the head when they’re being stupid. It’s not going to hurt him, but it’ll get his attention. But…you can’t do that. You certainly can’t do it on camera, and when you come sprinting into the middle of an altercation that’s already being controlled to do it, you start looking like the problem.
If it takes 3 more games to decide Lake’s fate, they have exactly the right AD! hahaha
You can’t embarrass kids like that. His parents probably have already had a conversation with him and the admin. It’s a bad look for a school with so much academic prowess.
Lake has been so bad this year he has pissed away a year of eligibility for these kids. They can’t get it back. They have NFL prospects whose stock has likely gone down this year. Simply amazing.

He’s gone. I doubt he survives the week. No, you aren’t going to hurt a kid by slapping him when he has a helmet on, but it’s just bad optics in 2021. It’s too bad though because I was hearing he was likely getting another year no matter what, and I was looking forward to watching that dumpster fire grow.

It would have been bad optics in 2011, 2001, 1991, etc. The difference is that every thing is filmed. If Hayes incident would not have been filmed, he never would have been let go.

Things seem to be turning south pretty quickly. There’s an editorial on the Seattle times that basically says Lake has proved he’s not the guy. UW fans on Twitter are hoping this is the excuse to dump him. And Jake Heaps (apparently now he’s an ESPN radio host in Seattle) posted that “This morning I’ve heard from multiple sources things are deteriorating fast on Montlake for Jimmy Lake. An announcement of some kind could be coming later today.”
Not exactly a definitive statement, but we’ll see.
Frankly, I hope they keep him at least until he proves he’s the 2nd coming of Tyrone Willingham. Maybe they can just suspend him for 2 weeks.

The Huskies just look so bad. Their wins have literally been miracles. They could just as easily be at 1 or 2 wins right now. I believe for the most part the stuff that happens off the field is reflected on the field. Just not mature enough at this point for the job.

I would imagine Jen reached out to Coach Pete and he said he’ll no, not sure what options they have on staff for an interim coach, probably not much, so Jimmy finishes the year and is fired after the AC. A little difficult to recruit when you bitch slap your players on the sideline on national TV.

The few husky fans I associate with are unanimous in that opinion - the slap was no big deal, and the OC was the real problem.
